Anyone had a chance to try or buy one one of these razors by Jürgen Hempel based on the Darwin Deluxe? [Image: cckUv4F.jpg]
James @ Wolfman has made SS Candelabra handles also. This pattern, and it's proper name is Candelabra was a popular design feature in british furnishings roughly Art Deco.
My hands are imprinted to round handles and I found the balance a mite squirrely. Some of the originals are prone to stress cracks in the cobalt. They sure are pretty though.

I was privy to Phil's planned reproduction Darwin after he acquired one during the feeding frenzy. He was deeply involved with machine shops creating his single edge line and it was all hush hush. Then James @ WOLFMAN created the candelabra handle. I mentioned this and Phil replied to the effect he needed to contact James. I was cast out from the shaving Garden of Eden and then opportunity let me try an original out here in the wilderness. It was very aggressive like a Muhle. I understand the bullgoose version, which appears sold out and probably another LE has a milder blade gap and the few owners seem pleased. Cobalt is a very beautifull metal with a buttersmooth finish reminiscent of pewter and platinum. I am postulating Stainless just doesn't carry over the aesthetics. If this bauble in it's many incarnations warms your inner magpie well and good. If a decent shave is still somewhere in your priorities get a Merkur HD and buy your best girl something pretty with the money saved.
