Going forward, perhaps the safest thing for Eric to do would be to revert to exactly the prototype specs, rather than to attempt to make something in between the two razors.

I strongly suggested that he do that but I think he is set on merging the finer points of the two designs and he seems convinced that the more modern look of the LE is preferable.

Maybe he could do the exact design of the prototype but just increase the gaps on the higher settings a bit. That might be the best of both worlds.

It could happen.  The first 10 position adjustable.   Cool

I think he will.

I'm assuming a blade that is more curved, Timeless razors, will hold the blade tighter/more rigid than a flat head design, Pils.

You are right, the prototype has taller dome, blade more curved, and hold the blade more rigid.

I pretty like this.

I tried today Prototype #7 with Gillette Platinum Blade, for my two day growth.

The razor is very very smooth, a bit blade feeling (which cool for me to check angle) and it is still efficient (3 pass BBS and never pulled my whiskers).
It was very similar to Paradigm DB.

The Prototype razor is:
#7 = Paradigm DB
#9 = BlackBird

I prefer:
#5 = DB
#7 = Blackbird
#9 = WR2 1.55

But I am afraid of if he tries to update the design of prototype to have higher gap options, we might get different razor again.
I think he should at least release a razor which is exactly same as the prototype.

Unfortunately, if he deviates from the prototype in any way the razor characteristics will differ... By how much, there is no way to know until its tested. He should either cut his losses now with what hes sold so far or produce the prototype to spec as that seems to be a razor that all that have tested it seems to really like. Whatever route Eric takes, before he goes to full production, the razor should be tested thoroughly to make sure its worth producing!!

Round 2 with my Janus
Not been in a rush this morning, I decided to drive the Janus, but decided that I need to see what the issues are.
I dialed it to 4 and shaved. I used a light touch and really concentrated on letting it do the work. It seems to like opening up weepers from the previous days shave because it did the same thing again today. By the time the shave was over it was closed though. A two pass with some touch-ups in my chin area and I'm pretty much BBS. (I missed a touch-up on my left hand side)

At "4" I found it pretty slick with a small bit of blade feel. So it's still fairly aggressive, but certainly not a handful.
