I'll bite.

Whatever you say. Thanks for such a helpful contribution to this thread.

You must crave for attention dude.

Nope, just stating my opinion. Sorry you're mad that it doesn't line up with yours. I'll gladly admit to being an artisan soap snob. Why would I ever use a product like Proraso when there are so many other options available that are far superior in scent and performance? If you enjoy it, that's fine, I don't care. I can still say it sucks.

Oh yes, I'm very mad because I value your opinion very highly...

You just made a statement without any further explanations. If you had said the reasons why this sucks in the first place, I would have shown more respect to you and your opinion.

I won't say more because I know how that usually ends. I am pretty sure you are used to writing such attention-seeking/rude posts.

First rate shave this morning. Does it have the post-shave feel of some of the artisan soaps? Not quite. But was it extremely easy to make a lather that let the straight razor glide right through the beard? Absolutely. Sure, I'll go back to using Sē'bŭm tomorrow, and deal with the fussy lathering process. But it's nice to know there's a few tubes of Proraso there in the den that I can grab whenever I feel like a simple, clean shave that will remind me of my nonno.

I'm going to have to try Proraso. I keep reading good things about it. If I like it, I'll use it but not exclusively. One of the things that makes shaving enjoyable for me is the variety. I don't even buy soaps looking for better performance, but for the scent profile (since they are all pretty good these days).

If you enjoy using classic soaps, then yes...Proraso is something worth having in your stash. It's been around a long time, and for good reason. It's very good, especially given the price. C.O. Bigelow, which is made by Proraso (and most folks agree that it's the exact same as "regular" green Proraso) is carried by Bath & Body Works. Often times they run a sale such as buy two, get one free, etc. Sometimes you can get lucky finding shaving products, including Proraso, at places like Marshalls or T.J. Maxx. I got a tub of Proraso red (sandalwood) at T.J. Maxx for $4. Even retail price isn't hard to swallow, somewhere in the $10 range.

You're exactly right. Most soaps today are very good. Some are excellent, but even the soaps/creams that some consider lower-tier are still very, very good. So long as they provide slickness for the razor to glide, then the soap did its job. If the post shave feel is great, that's just an added bonus.

+1

I've skin issues, so It's very sensitive.
Proraso Verde was my first shaving cream, as mostly for italian boys.
But I've never loved It.

Many years later, thanks to wetshaving forums, I've learned how to use It properly ... to my likings. Wink

And the original packaging is nice in SOTD too ...

I will always have Proraso verde in my den! Such a wonderful soap, from the performance to the scent. It's also very special to me because it's the first soap I was using when my father taught me how to wet shave. I'm not big on the red, white or the scent of Proraso Blu, but it performs great.
Proraso verde is and will always be part of my den.

Today's shave.

Just amazing. I've had these products for years but only recently I truly appreciated the Proraso range.

Myrsol Don Miguel has a very strong floral (jasmine) scent. I'd never recommend it to anyone that does not really (I mean REALLY) like floral scents. I bought this on impulse and I still haven't decided if I love it or not. I use it once in a blue moon.

As another side note, WR1 0.61 pairs very nicely with the Bic Chrome Platinum.

Lean more to Red or White Proraso lines. Honestly feel the red one of the absolute best sandalwood scents irrespective of being highly artificial

I don't consider it artificial. Keep in mind it contains sandalwood eo. Can you say the same about most of the artisan and no sandalwood scents?
