That "last mile" BS is just that! Amazon tried it and it was a flop! Maggard dumped it as well. USPS & Fedex don't share the same system so pckgs. LANGUISHED for weeks & sometimes months in warehouses!!

The 800 lbs. Gorilla in the room is the union. Privatize the U.S. Mail and it will make a profit. Until that happens you're just shoveling sh#@ in a tide.

^^^true that here^^^

At least regarding inefficiency and ineffectiveness.  Not sure of root causation but end result is failure.

I find it interesting that when someone's not happy with shipping charges and comes on a site to complain it's always geared towards it's USPS rates... Is it their fault that a seller inflates shipping prices? They are supposed to charge what ever the rate is that they are paying to USPS but in the industry it doesn't always end up that way though!!

Bottom line is if you think the prices are too high, shop somewhere else!! Stirling has flat rate $5.95 shipping for anything under $75 for soap products...

I went to their website (B&M the vendor) and test selected a shaving soap tub and shipping is USPS Parcel Select Ground $9.97, their cheapest. UPS ground $11.77, Priority Mail $12.42 and finally UPS 2nd Day Mail $16.71.

Perhaps some vendors such as Stirling are absorbing some of their S&H costs?

Yes, The Razor company for example, definitely eats some of the cost. However, I don't think a single tub of soap is that heavy to cost $9.97 by USPS standards. So, perhaps B&M has a hefty handling addition (shipping and handling) to their cost? Just a guess.

I orderd a 1 oz. soap sample and a bar of bath soap. R.I.F. Reading is fundamental.
