I was looking at DE safety razors on Top Of The Chain just now and noticed something I hadn’t seen in a long time. Ikon razors. In this case B1 OSS and Standard. Combo guard / double safety bar. Stainless steel and made in Italy.  I’m not sure how Carmine slipped these ones by with no listing on “latest “ stuff page. Good to see.

Do you have pictures or a link to a vendor?

I got this one awhile ago and I couldn’t recall it’s model name or where I got it, lol. It’s the B1 OC deluxe. I’d recommend it to any New fan looking for modern razor make.

Coincidentally, found this thread right after browsing iKon’s site. Smile The thing about the Top of the Chain razors is that the packaging has been revamped, and then … Italy? I always thought iKon razors were designed by, well, iKon (Greg) and manufactured in Thailand.

It seems the new handle incorporates some new features compared to the previous Bulldog handles, and perhaps the design cooperation also led to a shift in manufacturing locale.

That was my thinking too. I always thought Greg had his designs made in Asia so this represents a significant step in ikon razors. I have several ikon razors and with the exception of the Tech, I like them all.

In all honesty:
- I’m not 100% sure about the Thailand part, but there must be a reason for that impression.
- They are very skilled with their steel in Thailand, so I always viewed it as a plus when considering iKon.
- Italy of course has long traditions in shaving, so that’s great, too.
- I’ve had many iKon razors, and still own several. I think they have something for just about everyone. Glad to see the company continuing to innovate.
- Really wish I had gotten an SB3 back in the day, because that design really speaks to me.

I don’t know either, I think maybe Greg lived there. I know there was a connection.  It’s always been a little challenging to find accurate information on ikon and that hasn’t changed. The ikon website has less information than is on Top of the Chain. I never got an SB3 either. I’ve always liked the SC101 and SC102 slant and the B1OSS is a decent shaver too. If anyone has a list of all the ikon razors made, I’d be interested in seeing it.

That really would be interesting to see. Though not the same thing, this is how Greg rated the aggression levels of the iKon lineup half a decade ago. It is mostly still relevant.

Interesting, thanks for that. I wonder what he ranks a 5? A straight razor?
