Kansas City Caramel Pecan Pound Cake. Made this yesterday and wow. Came out absolutely amazing. Just rich enough and super moist.

Peanut Butter Kisses. Used caramel Hershey Kisses and it was a great combo.

Napoleans. These are my favorite pastry so I was pretty psyched to make them. Need to make them again.

Almond Crunch Cake. Lady fingers, amaretto, a ton of almond extract and mascarpone. Boozy, almondy and delicious.

Those are all the pics I can find right now. Of anybody wants any recipes just ask. I usually bake at least once a week so I will try and keep this updated. Baking is something I used to do with my mom as a kid. I'd always hang around the kitchen and watch and wait to lick the spoon or beaters. My mom is pretty sick now and lives with us so I have taken over the baking. It's something that always makes me feel closer to her. Cooking and food just doesn't make me feel the same as baking. Hard for me to put it in words.

I usually make my own with the mixer. That pic was taken awhile ago and I just tossed that can. Not sure why I had it in the first place. I do need to get a dispenser. It will make it so much faster. i used to have this cup type thing with a whisk like lid that all you had to do was shake it for a bit. Worked fairly well but always a tad too thin.

I love spending time in the kitchen myself but my wife is the baker and I the cook. Great memories made over the prep and enjoyment of food!

Would definitely be interested in your recipes for the Napolean's and the Almond Crunch Cake.

Looks fantastic.

I used to bake cookies for my elementary school students, before I retired, and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Kiss ones were always a favorite. The idea of using a caramel kiss seems like a great idea.

Also, that Almond Crunch Cake sounds like it would be a little slice of heaven. Smile

I do most of the cooking also but just don't get the same fulfillment from it. Unless it's making pizzas from scratch in a cast iron pan or on the stone. I will try and get the recipes to you later today. Napoleans are easy unless you feel like making your own puff pastry which I did not. I will eventually.

The caramel helped make them a little more moist. The almond cake is pretty great. A supermarket by us (Shop-Rite) has one that my wife and I really like. Problem is it is not the most attractive looking thing and the lady fingers are super soggy. taste good but more like pudding then cake. So I looked up a couple recipes, made a few small changes and that was it. I didn't use the best quality almond extract so next time I make it I will have to change that.

Tim, of course we want those recipes! They sound and look delicious! Yes, please post them.

OK, I like to bake also. The problem is that I also like tot eat what I bake, so I bake and give 1/2 away to our neighbors who won't bake because of the problem we have... the calories. The only thing they don't get are the breads. I'll cut them in half and freeze the rest for consumption in a few days.

Do I bake? I wore out one oven in 7 years; I think it was 7. Just skip to the last post (below) to bypass the conversation. I just updated the thread with a picture.

OK, recipe swap. I make "breakfast cookies" (not original to me) that I make instead of buying commercial breakfast/protein bars for when I get up early and want something to eat on the road. It's good nutrition. I used to make them as discreet cookies, but next time i'm going to see if thy can be made as a sheet and cut after baking.

I also make Potica. To keep it special I only make it on the holidays. It's delicious.

I mostly make breads (potica is a bread believe it or not), but yes, I make cakes and cookies as well. :-)

I'll put some up tomorrow when I'm back at work. I have to say we are blessed in my family. Sort of. We have good genes and everyone is pretty skinny. We just have heart disease :/ My mother-in-law is from Albania and makes bread almost everyday. I still haven't tried that. The one you make for the holidays looks great.
