For soaps - options
- I really like the soap and use for special occasions (Bufflehead for example)
- I like the soap and use up within 3 months
- I do not like the soap and give to neighbor or bin man
I will finish 6 tubs or so per year. Soapy Science is a long lasting soap and 5oz - takes 45-60 shave to use up. Another favorite brand is 4oz, soft and good for 25-35 shaves. I have one P&B LE (White Chapel saving for special occasions).

Numerous pucks of Williams. Two AOS sandalwood/ 1 unscented. Dr. Jon hydra. B&M Diamond, Latha, . Cold River Olivia. Ogalala bay rum. Couple Arko. Couple pucks VDH. A few tubes of Coates. A tub of wet shaving products. And a bunch more that I would have to ponder. Then I got into multiple soaps and their qualities and they all are sticking around longer.

I started using soaps about 3 years ago. Loyal and repeat customer for favorites. I can easily count finishing 14 from 3 soap artisans I will also admit to some "impulse forum related soap purchases" - finished a few and did not finish several.
I started shaving with a double-edged razor in April 2014. Since then I've finished dozens of samples but only four whole tubs or tubes:
- Endymion cream (Penhaligon's)
- Cade cream (L'Occitane en Provence)
- Cade soap (L'Occitane en Provence)
- Windsor soap (D.R. Harris)
I actually have to recant...
I did finish one...
Esbjerg Grapefruit.
Then, I purchased a replacement Grapefruit (and tubs of all their other scents), but unfortunately those later tubs all had some chemically scent in the base.
My original Grapefruit was light, airy, and fresh.
The next tubs all had an olfactory hue of asphalt or something. Obviously those found new homes.

The only soaps I have ever "finished" are soaps I hated. One ended up in the garbage; one was consumed in the shower as a bath soap; and two were given away at a shaving meet. I have enough soaps in my den to last me for about 25 years. I might use my favorite soaps 3-4 times per year, most soaps twice, and my least favorite soaps only once. I am constantly purchasing new soaps for evaluation purposes.
