Usually 3 with touch ups. I've tried moving to 4 with no touch ups as that's what seems to get me into irritation trouble. However, I've found that I still end up doing touch up passes, I'm hard headed. I'm currently using both methods. If I've had a bad shave I either skip a day or just do a very gentile 2 pass.

I usually do three passes on my neck, but those passes are WTG, XTG, and XTG. ATG seems to be a big no-no for my skin/beard combo. I've only been traditional wet shaving for just shy of 2 years, so hopefully when I grow up I can be dolphin smooth all over instead of just north of my jawline. Until then, I will just be DFS to avoid traveling the "bumpy" road!

My whiskers are so rough that if I don't shave well before wearing a button collar shirt, my neck will and down the inside of the collar!
I have the same issue with button collar shirts. My job (pharmacist) requires I wear a tie, and my shifts are 12 hours, so I need my neck to be smooth. Ok, truthfully, Iwant my neck to be smooth! One WTG, one XTG, and touch ups as needed/dictated by growth pattern. I can periodically go ATG, but that way can often result in weepers and irritation.
