I have been using the Nivea shave cream for a while, and i like it, but I have never used anything else. I'm wanting to try something new and different and have been looking at various artisans but i'm also not the type to buy a bunch of soaps and creams and rotate through them (at least not yet).

Realizing there is a difference in sizes of containers, how long, on average, would you say a container of soap or cream lasts you? I know a lot of you rotate through, so maybe it is how many shaves do you get out of an average container?

First depends on how often you shave. I have a number of soaps now since I've turned shaving into a hobby and have not run out of any of my soaps. Previously when I first got into it and was about saving money etc.. a single tub would last me around 6 months. Then again back then I didn't shave but once or twice a week.

I rotate, but I've heard of 4 oz could last 3-6 months depending on use. based off what I've seen , I would think that is true. I used cella the most and its not a whole lot down into it. but if you load more or less. shave every day or every few days can all change how long they last.

did you use the cream with a brush or is it the in can type? I've been interested int he tube cream from nivea, but some reviews said it gummed up their brush. probably shaved 5-10 times with each of my soaps besides cella and they haven't' used much.

Thank you for the replies!

I'm using the Nivea Sensitive Skin in a tube. When I started using it, I did not have a brush, but about a month or so ago i bought the black Satin Tip and I have had no problems with it rinsing out at all.

The cream works well also and I will certainly buy it again, I just wanted to try something else.

If you haven't tried Proraso yet that's a staple I think everyone should have. You can pick it up locally at Bath and Body Works, it's just relabeled as C.O. Bigelow.

I tend to get around 100 shaves from a 100g hard soap puck and about 60 shaves from a 100g tub of soft soap.

At least 6 months worth of shaves.

This is pretty close to my experience as well.

I'd say 1 shave per gram of concentrated soap is accurate.

4 oz could last 3-6 months depending on how much you shave and how much soap you load. It's closer to 3 months than 6 for me. You could be like Nick Shaves and a few other guys who did two swirls on the soap (He usually doesn't do this though).

That 8 oz puck would last for years doing that. Screw that I wanna load as much as I want and not skimp lol.
