Before I knew anything about traditional shaving, my goal...when I bothered to shave...was to remove the hair from my face.

ALL of it.
Same here.

Ditto. It is too bad they did not have a How To Shave guide back in the day. Some guys are taught by their dads, but many just pick up a razor and start shaving. I "learned" how to shave by watching TV commercials. Cartridge and electric shaves were not bad, but also not particularly good. Like so many others, I came across traditional wetshaving purely by chance.

Daily for the most part, and sometimes skip a day on the weekend. I do a 2 pass shave unless multiple days growth, and then a 3 pass usually.

The best compromise for me is to skip a day between shaves.

Exactly how I feel.

I know that when I first started DE shaving I might go 2-3 days in between to recover but as I got my technique down I was able to go back to everyday.

Shaven in the Past
Like clock work - every day. A little off topic but you mentioned razor burn. I experienced occasional irritation (mainly pursuing BBS) but have all but eliminated R.B. by switching to an all cold water shave. Heard this mentioned on this post. Takes a few times to adjust to the temp difference but it has improved my post shave comfort 100 %.

I shave 6 days per week, sunday is my day off. However, each person has different skin and they use a variety of different gear which all impacts on the end shave result. I have been wet shaving for most of my life and i am just turning 50 and in the end in my experience it all depends on the quality of the products you use if you wish to shave daily and enjoy it. Once you have found the right soap, razor and blade combination you will be able to shave every day and enjoy it.

I shave daily. One lather pass, one Somersets Oil and Cremo Creme pass. Each pass includes attentively shaving with just water and product residue.

"No pressure" is really key to an irritation free shave. The phrase pops up frequently (not frequently enough, in my opinion), but I wonder how many guys understand what no pressure means.

If you can wet your face and shave with water only...that's no pressure. So if you're using lather and your face is irritated in any way, you're using too much pressure.

It's real simple.

Master applying no pressure and everything else falls into place.

Every day, except weekends, unless we are going somewhere nice.  I only do two passes for a nice DFS, I don't need anything more.  I have been doing this for a long time, so irritation is not an issue for me.  My technique is pretty solid with SE or DE, and my routine works well.

The days I don't shave, I still treat my facial skin with conditioning products.

I have been retired for a long time, so when I shave is for me, so I take all the time in the world and make it my time.

My job allows me to work from home as I choose, but I still shave on those days. I shave 7 days a week and thankfully have no issue with irritation. Typically 3 passes, but 2 if pressed for time.
