This is going to sound strange but bear with me, it'll come together I promise.

Last year I ran across a formula for brass sizing lube. It was high purity alcohol, liquid lanolin, and scent if desired. So I mixed some up and sure enough it works great for sizing brass. But lanolin is a great moisturizer and it comes from wool. So I started using the mixture on my hands where it works great. I would consider using it as a hair tonic if I had the need. Heck, lanolin works for sheep hair, why not for ours?

Let me see if I can find the formula.

Homemade case lube

Ingredients:

1 TBL 100% lanolin oil (NOW makes one)
12 ozs 99% alcohol (HEET fuel dryer is one)
Optional: Add fragrance oil to mask the alcohol smell.

Heat alcohol and lanolin oil separately to 110°F in a water bath. Add the lanolin oil to the alcohol and mix and shake to mix. Add optional fragrance while it’s warm. Allow to cool down then add to sprayer bottle.

I buy the major ingredients, including the spray bottles, from Amazon and for scent I use some of the EOs from my now defunct Krampert's Finest business. If the purity of the alcohol isn't high enough the oil won't mix into it. How much water is allowable? I have no idea. But make a bad batch and you can tell us what doesn't work. I didn't play games with it and just bought 99% pure.

Try it and if it's too much oil just increase the alcohol to dilute it. Make notes.

Hey Brian, live your approach to experimentation. I think I might try this.  Happy2

If I was making it exclusively for hair I might lighten the lanolin a bit with olive oil or another oil. Just add lass Lanolin and make up the difference with the other. It's just something to keep in mind if the lanolin is too heavy (along with diluting it more).

I can think of much better alternatives to hair tonic as it’s alcohol based. An adding mineral oil and glycerin are also not really beneficial to hair and scalp.

I’ve been developing hair products for 27 yrs and I can think of multiple products that would help your problem.

Pm me and I’ll send you some samples.

If we're talking about hair here, I'd like to ask, how do you feel about hair transplants?

I wouldn't take any chances with such experiments. I once bought a hair tonic in a store, and my hair ended up falling out. I started actively going bald and didn't know what to do about it. My friend also faced the same problem, but he had it in a less pronounced form. He wasted no time and decided to an appointment with this company novahairtransplantnyc.com. He is already going through a preparation period for the transplant, and I can't make up my mind yet. That is a very responsible step for me, which is worth thinking hard about.

I think if that’s what you want then by all means. It’s your head.  I’m still doing ok coverage wise, thinner and gray but still there. If a guy has had significant hair loss and baldness and they are considered a good candidate for transplants I think they should do it if they want to.  I think doing lots of research and making sure the doctor doing it is experienced with a good track record. There’s nothing harder on a person than paying lots of money and going through the pain and discomfort of the procedure filled with hope and having a bad job and disappointment. I understand that making a natural looking hairline is very important so you get, you know a natural looking head of hair. Smile

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I didn't see it posted here, so I figure I'd share... (But I could just be a poor proof reader, lol)

A lot of patients who have bariatric surgery have a side effect of hair loss and thinning. Those patients have to see the dietitian regularly. What they suggest, which is definitely a longer-term fix, is Biotin.

A chemist/pharmacist would better be able to address it. I believe it does both promote growth and hair health (along with skin and nails). Might be worth looking into.

Also, I Believe it's among the safe vitamins... AKA, whatever you take is fine. Your body uses what it wants and expels the rest (like vitamin C).

Pharmacists... Did I get any of this right? Lol.
