Good morning

The Taiga razor has a conditionally positive blade exposure Smile
And to be precise it is +0.028 mm

I had though it must be negative as the Taiga is so damn smooth
Even the open comb plate is smooth, feels safe on my skin and gives only a little more blade feel.
It's the first open comb I really like.

2020 Shave # 37 ( 456 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Home Like Shaving Taiga Adjustable Prototype Setting # 8
Blade: Wizamet (3)
Brush: Cadre Member Brush w/Cashmere
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Fresh Lime 3017 (37)
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Dragonsbeard Skin Food Splash
Fragrance: Prada Luna Rossa Black

So today's shave I dodged a bullet.............Shave number 3 with the Taiga dialed to the highest setting the production model has at setting 8. The issue was I did this after showing the razor disassembled and reassembled on camera. In my haste assembling while filming I didn't insure the plate was aligned properly and the whole shave while fairly smooth felt a tad rough. Mind you that's at an equivalent 1.58 blade gap and set slightly wonky. Watch the whole stupid performance on video. After fixing I find that at setting 8 even with that HUGE blade gap it was still a SMOOTH shaver. I need to shave 1 more time tomorrow now that I realized today's shave wasn't what it could be. Will probably ship Wednesday to next participant.

Took the Taiga for another spin today as I wanted a full shave with it on setting 8 (When I get it aligned properly) and it was a BEAUTIFUL and COMFORTABLE shave. Great razor and just as comfortable as the Vintage Gibbs. HEY, Home Like Saving !!! MAKE SOME MORE AND GET THEM IN STOCK !!!!!

Got to try the Taiga today and I have to say I am very impressed.

I don’t think I will add much to what has already been said but, here we go with some fist impressions.

Very nicely built and considering it was a prototype it is just great.
Easy to setup and configure. Something that I very much appreciate is its wide adjustment range.
Started the shave at 1 and soon move on to 3.
That gave me a very efficient, smooth shave with virtually no blade feel at all. Lovely.
The whole shave was fantastic, close, and smooth. I tend to judge razors on it second pass and pickups and the Tiaga was just amazing.
The alum block was silent all over and the aftershave not even a mild burn!!!
Looks like the Permasharp is a lovely match for this razor.

Having had a rex and after trying the Tiaga they are miles apart. I sold my Rex because there was too much blade feel for the closeness it gave. However, this razor is the opposite, very smooth and close with very little blade feel.

So far, I love it.

More thoughts as the week progresses.

fmalpartida I too felt they were worlds apart in blade feel and the Taiga was still more efficient. Nice thoughts. Enjoy !!!

Totally with you. The Rex gave me rough shaves while this one, for its first shave, was just amazing. Much, much more efficient: closeness vs smoothness. Little to no blade feel cutting through the stubble like butter.
The Envoy has a similar face feel as the Rex so when I moved on to the Carbon and then to this one it felt perfect.

So are my thoughts about the Taiga and the Rex too.
I have the final Version and I also like the open comb baseplate.
It gives more blade blfeel, but yet much less than the Rex. As I use 5-6 on the cc plate I can use 3-4 on the open comb plate. With the same efficiency and just slight more stressed skin, but due to the smaller gap it feels more safe, especially if your skin tends to nicks
