Here's my two cents:
First, I completely understand your wanting to treat yourself with a really nice razor. The advice about the Rockwell 6S is good, in that it's an excellent shaver with multiple plates, it's just a bit plain looking. Bang for the buck, at $100, you can't go wrong.
For the 'treat' aspect, there's nothing like the Wolfman. The craftsmanship, fit, and finish are second to none. Since you use a '51 Super Speed, most of those from that era were .58mm blade gaps, so a standard Wolfman with a .61 blade gap should work well. The only issue with the Wolfman is availability-the choices are waitlist, or finding one on a BST.
Timeless Razors are right up there with the Wolfman, and excellent shavers. They are really good looking as well, especially the scalloped cap. You can get the TRs in either .68mm or .95mm base plates. Great shaver, beautiful to look at, and available. Perhaps a bit less 'sleek' than the Wolfman, but a beautiful razor.
Charcoal Goods makes an outstanding razor, another great shaver, and the attention to craftsmanship is excellent. I enjoy my shaves with both the SB and OC varieties, and the Level 2 plate (middle of the range) is close in feel to the WR .61mm and a bit milder feeling than the TR .68. With the antiqued finishes, it's a real looker. They're brass and copper, so no stainless offerings at this point, but a great shaving 'high-end' razor.
The Blackbird from Blackland is another good 'high-end' choice, great looking razor, and a fine shaver: It's the top pick of many DE connoisseurs.
The Feather AS-D2 was one of my first 'high-end' razors, and is an excellent, solid razor, albeit too mild for many, including myself.
I'd be remiss not to mention the OneBlade-not a DE razor, uses a proprietary blade, etc., etc. Beautiful to look at and a razor I love but hate that I love it. Gives a great shave every single time, no technique necessary. Expensive, but a 30-day money back guarantee and lifetime warranty.
Excellent info. Thanks!
