found this at an antique shop in Texas. from what I've found online, it looks like Kampfe may of made the razor and just rebranded it for the company. the razor takes standard SE blades and locks the blade into place with the top lever.

I really like the look of it, Andrew. Are you going to give it a try? It looks to be in excellent shape. A good scrub will help but all in all, a very nice purchase.

I have not heard of Hero before but some of my lather catchers give excellent shaves.

According to Waits it is identical to the Kampfe Cru-Steel. It should give a good shave. At one time I thought the Cru-Steel incredibly aggressive, but not at all any more. My buddy made the comment about how ugly it was, so I loaned it to him. Then he tried it and says that he had to eat crow as while he acknowledged that he made that comment, that if I ever saw one to buy it for him as it gave the best shave he's ever had. IMO it's not of the more common lather catchers. It also has a head made of steel and it feels quite a bit different than a head made of brass during the shave.

Andrew, if you don't like it and want to sell it let me know. My buddy is living on a fixed income, but as long as it doesn't break any forum rules and the price is right I have a buyer for it and an owner who will value it.

These pix are of mine before I got it replated.

I'm not sure yet, to be honest. I've never had great shaves with old SEs I've tried in the past, but we'll see.

:-) Scott, I do. I was hoping no one would ask because I looked for the pix in Photobucket when I posted the above and couldn't find it. But I found it easily today.

The Cru-Steel is the one on the left. It's partially hidden by another replate that I had done at the same time. If you look at the blade retainer on the back of the head you'll see that it changed from a coppery color to nickle plated.
