Declaration Grooming's Dirtyver is certainly worth looking into if you're a fan of unscrubbed vetiver. Like the label says, it's dirty, but it's not as smoky or as nutty as Salter's French Vetiver. In fact, it has a nice tart smell that sort of reminds me of green potatoes.

Pardon me for mentioning something that's not a soap, but I recently got a sample of WSPs "Black Vetiver" cologne & it's pretty close. It's unfortunately got a bit more of the grassy/marshy quality than Salter, but the smoky goodness still dominates.

While Eufros discontinued "Haitian Vetiver", they still make Tierra Humeda which is a Vetiver dominant scent. I highly recommend it, but it only comes in either of the two vegan bases.

Oleo's Jacmel is a very light and soapy Vetiver fragrance that will not really satisfy dark and smoky Vetiver junkies.

And I got to try it! Thanks for the sample Dominic. This one is a much more approachable vetiver than Salters but it is certainly vetiver forward. Notes I get in addition to vetiver are black pepper and perhaps a kiss of lemongrass. Unlike others that use Vetiver as a base, this one has it as the star. More clean than dirty or smoky but very nice!

I'll post a review in the next couple of days because he sent enough soap for several shaves.

Dominic said if you fellas wanted to get some soap before it comes live on the website to PM him. If you've never used that soap base it acts much like mikes for me.

FYI everyone. This is the Black Velvet scent we’re talking about. It is part of our new Series V lineup, but is not on our site due to an exclusive agreement. As stated, PM me.
Black Velvet scent oil and balm are on the site.

So thank you all for the direction. I picked up a tub of Mikes Natural Vetiver and it scratches the vetiver itch pretty darn well. A touch of smoke, a dab of dirt, but mostly the wonder of vetiver root. I'm tempted to roll a ball of it up and cram it in my nostril! (And Bouki, I totally get the crackerjack vibe but would not have had you not mentioned it.). I'll still have to pick up a tub of Dirtyver but that'll wait for a couple more days. If you're interested I also posted a review of Black Tie Razors Black Velvet vetiver here too. Again, thanks for your help and keep em coming. This vetiver jones isn't going anywhere.

It smells to my nose almost exactly like CRSW Sandalwood but with a great vetiver "kicker" in the mix. Strong it is and tastefully done I might add. It's a top tier soap for sure. Wink

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

The soap is now available. However, due to a special agreement you won't see it on our website.
If you want some, go here and put JFH/Black Velvet in the notes on your order.
