I would like to stay with U.S. made, so that is why Karve wasn't on my list.

I am not in any hurry so will have no problem waiting to see what Blackland comes up with

If I go with the Yates, I will be waiting for their stock levels to be replenished. I would want the shorter, thicker handle, and it is not offered as a complete razor that way, and they don't have the individual components available to build a razor with all the same finishes

The idea of an adjustable Gillette is interesting

What does this sentence mean? "I've done PIFs everywhere but here, I believe. It's past time for a DFS one." What is a PIF?

The statement, "I'd go Yates or Envoy right now, personally. Again, no wrong choice here." shows a great deal of integrity, considering it came for the maker of one of the razors I'm considering, who doesn't make either of the razors he is recommending.

again, thanks
A PIF is a Pass it Forward... A gift.

You'll see them around all of the shaving Boards, from time to time. People try stuff, don't like or use it, and instead of selling the item, they gift it to someone to help out another shaver.

I've been the recipient of a few generous gifts and I like to give back to the community when I can. There are some wonderful kind folks in this hobby.

Frankly, i don’t think you should pass up the sale that MaineYooper has on his Blackbird.
It’s only $25 more than your limit and worth every penny.

I have run into some very fine people in this hobby of ours, and I would put Shane @ Blackland Razors at the top of the list. You can trust what he says.

Very nice although I’ve always thought PIF was for pay it forward as in making an investment of goodwill so that, possibly you reap what you sow. While nobody PIFs with an expectation of something in return it feels good, it builds a supportive community and who knows what follows.

Thanks also to BBS for those informative posts on Gillette razors.

Well, that's a better definition. I like it!

Oddly enough, I never got a message. So, I think I'll just put it up for a traditional PIF in a little bit.

Sorry mrdoug, I’ve been trying to figure how to reply only to you so I wouldn’t have my personal info all over the Internet. Haven’t had any success yet. I think your offer is a very generous one that I would love to take you up on.

You can't use the message system until you meet the requirements of length of time since joining and post counts. Just have Doug email you to keep things private Happy2

Is having your personal information all over the interwebs a bad thing?
