First question is what blade are you using?

My favorite blade is the Gillette Blue, but I have also used an Astra Green, Personna, and Polsilver.  Should I go sharper?  I have Feather and Kai but I have not used them in this razor...

Aji prefers Feather personally. However, weepers do not indicate the need for a sharper blade. My preference for all H&S razors is Nacet.

May I enquire as to your preshave lathering technique and soap? Are you prepping and lathering properly? Soapmaker??

I will try a Nacet and Feather blades.

I currently use Barrister and Mann (latest formula) with Aveda Pure Performance Aftershave.  I don’t use preshave but maybe I should add that to the mix as well.  Which one do you prefer?

I have been wetshaving for about 8 years so my technique is typical.  Lather is great, I use mainly synthetic knots but occasionally boar (Semogue) or 2 band badger (Thater).

B&m quality soap. Do you thoroughly wash with soap and wet your skin with warm water for a minute or so prior to lathering? Do you work the lather into your beard for at least 5 minutes?

Preshave helps. 2 best I have used are ETHOS and Grooming Dept with ETHOs preferred. Even nivea cold creme better than nothing. Prep is essential to a good shave

Will suggest Feather blade a bad idea if getting weepers with the other blades

Emperor of Shaving
With this particular razor, I find it better to ride the plate, not the cap.  Most other razors with a slimmer head (P076, Wolfman, Carbon Cx) work great when you ride the cap. Just my humble opinion.

Hello all,

I just had my third and final shave with the H&S No 75 hybrid aluminum and SS razor. First I want to thank Dan for arranging the pass around, as well as Pickle for recommending the razor to me, and H&S for providing the razor!

For a little background on how I am going to compare this razor... In the past 2 years of wet shaving I have used the Edwin Jagger DE89, Maggard V3A, Rockwell 6S, Karve Christopher Bradley, and RazoRock Lupo Stainless Steel, all in that order. While I enjoyed them, I ended up selling the 6S and Christopher Bradley once I got my Lupo because I preferred it's efficiency and low profile head design. I also tried a Tatara Masamune, which I found to be pretty similar (maybe very slightly more smooth) to the Lupo SS, but didn't find it so much better to warrant buying. I've found Nacet blades to be my favorite generally.

I used the razor 3 times in total with varying days of growth between ranging from 5 days to 1 day. The sweet spot on this razor is easy to find, and within 1 shave I have pretty much kept it consistently. I have to agree with the majority of the reviewers that this is a VERY smooth shaver and is surprisingly efficient in doing so. I see this razor as being a perfect daily driver for people who enjoy smooth shaves. If you enjoy blade feel or super aggression this isn't the razor for you, but if you want drama free, efficient smooth shaving, and BBS shaves, then it is.

I generally don't stop shaving until I get to BBS, going ATG everywhere except my neck. My mustache is usually a little bit of a problem area where razors tend to drag. I found that the H&S glided very easily. ATG was also very smooth. I would rate this razor as being about as efficient as the Lupo SS/Karve C plate/Rockwell 6S 5 plate but smoother than all of them. I would sometimes have trouble getting BBS on a chin dimple I have with some razors, but the H&S, despite being smoother, took care of it no problem. I found myself rubbing my face for hours after the shave (similar to how I did after using Declaration Milksteak for the first time).

The soaps I used in my shaves were Noble Otter V2, Grooming Dept Kairos, and the provided Cutting Edge soap. I didn't particularly care for either of the scents provided in the Cutting Edge soaps, as the scents seemed a little too straightforward for me personally. I used the Citrus Wood, which was a medium strength soap that opened up nicely as I lathered. The soap is quite soft, and creates a voluminous lather very easily. The soap was very slick and provided excellent residual slickness. However I did get a little irritation and a weeper while using it. I partially blame this on shaving at night and not having prepped for it with a shower or anything, as well as being a little careless with the razor since it had been so smooth and forgiving on my other shaves. I do think the soap is a great performer.

The takeaway? Well before my turn with the pass around was even done, I've already ordered the black coated hybrid No75 from H&S. It arrived in the mail today and I'm stoked to use it. I think this will be my go to razor for the foreseeable future! I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I do recommend you try this if you like smooth and efficient shaves. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Razor: H&S N075 Mixed Metal Head
Blade: Wizamet (5)
Brush: Wolf Whisker Black Wolf
Soap: SBSW Hook
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: SBSW Hook

Thought this the appropriate place to post this. If not wanted as I'm not in the pass around, please let me know and I'll delete it Happy2
So I received the Mixed metal H&S N075 Head in a trade and took it for a spin this morning. Another wonderful shaver I get to experience on the market and will no doubt want to keep in the den based on the shave today. Between this and the Yates razor I recently came across I'm hitting the jackpot with winners for me. There are so many great razors getting produced these days compared to over a decade ago. I will hold further thoughts until I get a few more shaves with it. I just wish it came with the original handle and may have to try hunting one in the BST with a WANTED to BUY ad. Have a great day DFS !!

Hey Dave, how does the H&S Mixed Metal compare to shaving with the Yates and/or the Diamondback? I've used the H&S and really liked it, but have not been able to try out the Yates or the Diamondback as yet. Thanks!

To me it's similar to the Yates "M" plate while the Yates "H" plate is  more like the Diamondback. That's what I'd expect as it's neutral exposure like the Yates "M". Still a great companion to the Yates. It can be as good a shave as the H and DB but will require more cleanup and skin stretching.
