I think I like the new top cap profile it presents...the contours are a tad gentler than a Sailor or Blackbird,
but similar aesthetic. Clamping looks rock solid.
Was the previous top cap quite different...perfectly rounded, was it?
If so, wonder if the new top cap alters or improves the shave.
Reviews of the old Z074 seemed to rave about smoothness but were a bit lukewarm on efficiency.

Yes, the previous version was perfectly rounded.
I doubt any geometry was modified or altered, as it's just the very top that they flattened

Would that have the effect of changing the angle the blade impacts the skin?
Otherwise why change it? Just thinking aloud...

Yates did the same thing with the 921-M cap.
It was originally round, but modified it to be flat on top.
Besides a change in appearance, it now can stand up on its head. Not sure if that was the purpose of it or not.

The manufacturer uses the word "bevelled" which I assume is more connected to cosmetic improvements.

The mild/smooth category is getting some respectable contenders nowadays:

Theres the Z074 Ti, Barbaros TR-1 & 2, Lambda Athena plus the Chiseled Face Ti...do any of these stand out as a clear winner?

The Z074 takes the top spot on price for sure.
