H&S P076 Ti DE SB & OC Passaround Review–Epitome of Craftsmanship & Efficient Comfort

SOTN: Incredible shave after being gone for a few days. This H&S Ti gave me a remarkable shave.  I used zero pressure and was rewarded with an extremely close 1 pass shave.  I found the titanium version of this razor much more comfortable than the 17-4 counterpart.  I would describe it as medium blade feel and ultra efficient.  The very low profile head makes it extremely maneuverable and makes the narrow sweet spot easy to find and maintain.  Aji put a beautiful satin polish on this piece and it really shows the color of the titanium beautifully.

I just finished a week with the H&S Ti P076 Dual Comb.  It is perhaps the best razor I've had the pleasure of shaving with to date.  I used mostly the SB side, as that is my preference.  I did not care for the size of the handle, and if I were to buy one (head only) I would pair it with my Tibam 3" handle.  I also want to say a few nice words about the Ethos Lavender shave soap.  Most soaps dry out my face, but this one did not, and the fragrance was exceptional.  I did not try the other two scents, so I have no comment on them.  This was also my first time using a Nacet blade.  I usually use Feathers, and the Nacet compares most favorably.  All in all a very favorable shaving experience.  I will now pass it on to the next participant.  My thanks to Dan Law and the vendors for making this possible.

I’m not a part of the H&S Ti pass around but, I’m going to ask DanLaw one more favor of allowing me to post my initial thoughts and experience with the H&S PO76 Ti SB. My apologies amigo if I overstepped the boundaries but, I think it’ would be appropriate to have it posted here than creating another useless thread to take away the benefit of what this thread provides. If it weren’t for this thread and a couple of forum members that have experienced the Ti, I wouldn’t have made the purchase. Thank you & apologies in advance my friend...

I cut and pasted my write up from another forum so, I made no attempts to edit as I was also stepping into a thread that someone else created Shavemd on that forum. In particular it was his thread & review of the H&S Ti in part that pushed me over the edge so to speak in making the purchase. I blame you Mark, plain and simple.... 

[i][font=georgia]A thread bump as I’m hoping the OP Shavemd won’t mind me posting my initial shave and thoughts on the H&S PO76 Ti. The thread is more of a comparison between two specific Ti razors but, I figured why open up a separate thread when this one exists. I also have the Carbon Cx-Ti but, a comparison between the two would be moot as Mark has done a brilliant write up between them in which I agree on terms of how they compare. Truly a great summation imo.

Anyhow, I’ve had the H&S Ti for almost 2 weeks in its container and all I’ve done is just look at it as I was shaving with a Gillette Toggle (on loan from another great forum member Graydog) and more recently, the beautifully done Blackbird Tradere. Finally today I decided to put the Tradere aside and bring out the H&S Ti. Plenty has been said here and across multiple forums on the beauty and craftsmanship that this razor beholds. My pics just don’t do it justice. Precision & luxury of the highest order with the performance to back it up.[/i][/font]

[i][font=georgia][i][font=georgia]Loaded a fresh Shark Platinum and went to work on 24hrs. of beard growth. Great face feel and comfort from first stroke. The Ti alloy brings a soft almost warm like feeling to ones shave that has to be experienced and felt to understand why it is becoming a sought after alloy in the shaving world. The blade feel and the comfort of the razor blends nearly perfectly on touch regardless of what stage of the shave one is progressing through. The razor brought me to a nearly flawless BBS finish and I could have stopped right there with 2 marvelous passes. But, I felt the tiniest of stubborn stragglers around the Adam’s Apple (the toughest spot for me with any and every razor) and just went for the kill. Superb clean up pass that felt comfortable, smooth and yet decisive in accomplishing the task leaving nothing but smooth clean skin without any irritation or weepers to speak of. World class shaver with exquisite looks and results to back it up. Just a wonderful first shave and no disappointments whatsoever. 

Many things have been said on where does one stop in purchasing these uber priced razors made of exotic alloys. All we’re doing here is shaving. These razors have gone well past the $300-$400 dollar range from multiple artisan makers and I can’t tell you whether the price is justified for you or others. I will say that I’m extremely fortunate to have purchased one when the Ti was first released at a cost of $400. Since then, the price has gone to $500 for the PO76 Ti. I believed that at the time it was released, it was a relative bargain and more so once I finally experienced how it performs. Yes, I thought it was underpriced then and now it reflects a bit more of what I thought it should have gone for. Again, that’s just my opinion. We’re all entitled to one. 

I won’t recommend this razor to everyone if you’re just looking for a tool that gets the job done without fanfare or fuss. There are plenty of excellent razors out there made of premium alloys that are vastly less expensive and deliver wonderful shaves. But, having said that, if you’re one that enjoys a quality and luxurious type product that brings pride in ownership & performance from elite artisan razor producers, the H&S PO76 should be strongly considered if it hasn’t been on one’s radar. First shave and it’s a Gem....[/font][/i][/i][/font]

I've finished my second week of shaves with the Ti and I think I've really gotten a feel for how it operates and behaves. Today was Diamondback on the left side and Ti on the right. DB per usual is incredibly smooth with little blade feel. The Ti has slightly more blade presence, but still remarkably smooth. In comparison to the Ti, the DB feels quite heavy and while the weight helps with efficiency, it does lead to a less precise feeling moving across my face. I am also more prone to weepers with the DB, likely due to the increased weight.

The skin on the Ti side feels a bit smoother and the DB left a couple of tough patches that the Ti took care of, so I would have to say the Ti has a slight advantage in efficiency. I have a 0.67 WR1 coming that I am going to compare with, but outside of that, my shave offs are likely concluded as I don't have a large collection currently. The Ti is as good a razor as I've ever used and gives me the best shaves that I've been able to achieve yet. The remarkable efficiency and smoothness with relatively light blade feel make for an incredibly enjoyable shaving experience, but with enough responsiveness to guide you.

Like GlazedBoker I purchased my Ti at the original price and I think for $400 it was undervalued and an easy decision. At $500 I think it's worth the price, but this razor is for full enthusiasts. I'm very happy to have mine and if you want the best production titanium razor available, this is it.

I had my 2nd shave today with the H&S P076 Ti razor. Was not planning to post anything until I was finished with the pass-around, but I am making an exception. I believe that today... I may have had the best shave of my life! I did 3 passes plus a cleanup. I have 30 razors (vintage, artisan and mainstream), but I have never been able to approach the closeness that I experienced in a barbers chair with an experienced Italian barber. Today I did. I have a BBS that may last for at least 2 to 3 days. This razor does have great audio feedback and is way more efficient than you would expect from a .076 blade gap. I cannot put into words how surprised I am with this exceptional razor. I will add more details in my final review.

Took the H&S Ti po76 for its maiden voyage today. I bought the 17-4 version when it first came out and it ended up being too much of a good thing for me. Results were BBS but getting there wasn’t very enjoyable for me. Something about the Gap/Exposure/metal combo didn’t work for me. So I signed up for this Ti passaround hoping that with a different material and it being lighter it would change the shave significantly. Well folks, after my first go at it I can honestly say.... it didn’t. Yes it was much lighter and a bit softer of the face but still a bit of a harsh shave for me. Today was my last day with the Carbon Ti passaround so I did half my face with the H&S and half with the Carbon .68 plate. I found the Carbon to be an autopilot type of razor where as the H&S needs more focus. By the end I had a few weepers on the H&S side and none on the other. The H&S was a definite step up in efficiency though. The H&S handle still feels a bit awkward to me. It’s longer than I usually like and the fluted end still doesn’t sing to me when using it. I’m going to focus the rest of this week to trying to figure out this razor. Maybe I was too useto the carefree shaves I was getting from the Carbon and used too much pressure.  I’m going to step back to less sharp blades and see if that tones it down for me. 

For ETHOS, the soap is no stranger to me as I have the lavender soap/splash combo. I exclusively face lather and scoop some of the soap out and smear it on my face. Then lather with a brush which seems to work fine for me. The soap is Definatley elite tier and has great residual slickness. Today was my first use with success and it is great! A bit cologne type with pineapple. Resulting aftershave is the perfect middle ground, not too oily and not too dry. Feels like my skin can breathe. Full disclosure I have the clean unscented skin food splash and used that as well but it isn’t in this passaround box. When lathering the soap it doesn’t get overly thick feeling, when on the face it feels light but still provides excellent protection and slickness. I’m patiently waiting for his site to get up n running to order some more stuff.
