Mohamed would be wise not to promise specific shipping dates. It sets up an expectation among his customers and he rarely meets it. If he said all items will ship within 3 weeks of purchase, than he would not create an unrealistic expectation and his customers would (or wouldn’t) buy his products with eyes wide open.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with his shipping times. I have enough shaving soaps for the next three generations of my family. As others have said, Mo always delivers and his soaps are the best. But I understand the frustration of his customers when he doesn’t meet the deadlines he sets for himself. Those deadlines simply aren’t necessary.

Not really wanting to wade into to this  but something needs to be said. Looking back at my career I have found that customer service and satisfaction are part and parcel to the having the keys to the kingdom so to speak. I believe all of us can think of another product  or service where there was a wait or challenge  because of the demand, production process and/or limited output.  Mo is a one person operation and unless you have been there you do not know how hard that is. Unfortunately it is just part of the GD experience. Mo has not ripped anyone off, is equally frustrated by delays and is trying to find the right solution for both his customers and himself.  I believe what we appreciate most about Mo and what we really "buy" from GD is his mad scientist approach to creating product and the post use results that many of us have benefited from.  Yes, the delays suck but this is really a first world problem. Mo does need to manage our expectations better regarding production and shipping dates.

My concern, however,  is that Mo is expanding his offerings - besides the newly introduced pre and post shave serums he is creating after shaves and creating GD brushes. Let's not forget that he is also developing new soaps, scents and continues to tweak his exisiting offerings. Eventually he will need to be able to find, hire, train and retain good people and the character of GD will change. There will be trade offs but you will get you tub(s) on time.

I suspect that one day, especially if Mo figures out how to meet demand efficently, there will be a thread remembering the good old days when there were delays etc before the "impelementation of a highly efficient production / distribution system designed to aggressively meet and surpass any production goal"  and that many of us realize that something unique has been lost. So to all the complainers and haters be careful what you wish for.

The amount of anxiety, angst, anger and unhealthy emotional involvement displayed here by some people over the delayed tubs of a soap is simply breathtaking....No words...

After the next two releases, I'm going to sync-up with West Coast Shaving. Releases will be made available simultaneously.

Based upon this comment, it appears that Mohammad has realized the fault in his ways. Future releases will be done in concert with WCS, which means the product has to be finished and ready to ship when made available for sale.

Obviously GD is passionate about making incredible products. Hopefully his passion has bled into the business side of his business. That said, I will still buy his products, even if there are shipping glitches along the way!

Keep up the good work and thank you Mohammad!!

Lots of packages shipped yesterday. First hire quit before starting, Second hire quit, she found the work too boring! Since I got the new labels, daily, I have been up since 4:30AM and working for 12 hours packing orders and love every minute of it. Today, I’ll spend the entire day packing orders; remaining orders will all be packed and ready for USPS tomorrow morning. I’m happy to see my products get used all over the world, thank you!

I work in a extremely tight space. I use the same space to manufacture and label and pack orders and experiment. Each event requires the space to be prepared differently, It’s a lot of balls to juggle. For 2019 I hope to make enough to afford a move to a larger space I can call my own.

As far is getting ripped off: To the best of my knowledge, I haven’t taken anyone's money and failed to deliver. I also have given everyone the option of a refund. I deserve to be rebuked for my failure to deliver when I say I will, on multiple occasions. I’m sorry for not keeping my word.

Thanks for the update Mohammad. Personally, I think you deserve to be criticized, and certainly forgiven, but not rebuked. Just my opinion.

Thanks Mo!! You are a class act and the haters are always going to hate! That being said, criticism is always good for business because that means people on both sides are paying attention to your business! The “ripped off” comment was totally uncalled for and unwarranted as you have always offered and given refunds to anyone that wants to cancel their order. Keep your head up and keep pushing forward! You have many more supporters than haters!

That’s called being in start-up mode folks. Many a very successful company has been through this journey complete with some setbacks and many corrections along the way. While there may be some logistical rough patches the product quality speaks for itself. There’s a reason it sells out almost immediately on his site and at West Coast Shaving. The marketplace has spoken....and loudly. If you’re losing sleep over the arrival of your tub of soap and driven to posting rants about it maybe it’s time to reassess your life priorities....

Seems like you’ve posted as much as anyone. And my guess is that anyone who is putting in hours on a shaving forum is likely too invested in tubs of soap, myself included. Isn’t that the point?
