I feel like I could have done all 3 passes with one coat of lather. Secondary and even tertiary slickness is off the charts.

Nice Sean!! That brush and razor combo will be used by me in a couple weeks when I get my WR2! Sweet!

Mo, I’m interested in buying some of the GD pre-shave. Can you please explain the features and benefits of the product?

Chypre Vert: to my nose, off the puck and without lathering, I smell Sweet orange, peach and jasmine with a “green” base.

I shaved with 'Naranja de sangre' this evening

Off the puck its a very nice leather scent with nothing else. Once lathered, the blood orange comes forward and blends equally with the leather. The 2 seems to work very well together... an unusual, but amazing combo.

So far here are my favorite scents in order of favorite to least favorite:

Kulfi
Verbrannt
Fig, Sandalwood, Musk
Naranja de sangre
After the Fire
Before the Fire
Incense & Rose
Chypre Conifère
Tao

I feel very lucky to have been able to stock up on these incredible soaps.

Received my first GD shaving soap 2 days ago mallard kulfi, the Chypre vert is expected deliver on monday. I'm very bad with scent descriptions but the kulfi smelled very good to me just like the dessert ice cream as described on the site. Performance was very good, I wasn't surprised as I have been following this thread just a confirmation for me. Comparing to my other soaps wholly kaw, B&M, CRSW, to name a few of my better ones the kulfi scent was stronger, and I also noticed it lasts longer. I Palm lather first lather of all my new soaps to get water ratio down and to see how much it can take. It took tons of water and was very slick. My hand smelled like kulfi all day, I would smell my hand randomly throughout the day and it still smelled strong. Very pleased with this soap, glad I finally got the chance to try one out. Looking forward to trying the Chypre vert.

Not Mo but having used various versions can state the benefits experienced are 4fold (from most to least useful):

1, closer, slicker and more cushioned shave

2, better post shave conditioning (not sure if because less skin trauma during the shave)

3, less build up of lather inside shaver head

4, blades seem to last about 10% longer

Was never a fan of preshaves prior to sampling Mo’s preshave as had found none to do a better job than classic Noxema. Hower, that changed and henceforth will be using Grooming Dept preshave. Not Mo but that is one trialer’s perspective.

Chypre Vert this morning did not disappoint! I did a 10 second load and it made a ton of lather. To me this one is different from Coat Tails in that it is much more fluffy. Maybe I used too much water with it. Same slickness and similar feel but not as thick and pasty as Coat Tails. The Supply razor I used was an absolute disappointment though. I will try this razor for one more shave and it will go back if I can’t get at least a DFS. I have been using the Vector, Paradigm SE and RS-10 for my last 6-7 shaves so going to something that can’t even give me a slightly smooth finish is a huge downer for me.
Chypre Vert is another touchdown as far as GD soaps for me. Glad I bought 2 tubs because I know I have been upset about not getting an extra tub of Coat Tails. Chypre Vert is one of those soaps that you can just dip your brush in and get plenty of lather from. It’s a lot softer than all of the other GD soaps except Coat Tails. Use just a bit and you will get tons of lather from your build. Face feel is fantastic and post shave feel is outstanding as well. Unfortunately, I have a ton of stubble left so I will be Shaving again tomorrow. Oh well, you don’t learn until you try.
