I wonder if this move will put more bevel products in the big box stores. this might help people get their feet wet in wet shaving..

People, the Bevel is a cheap Chinese razor that can be bought by its Chinese maker for $10 on the Internet.
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

Which one is it and who makes it? Baili? Weishi?

I have absolutely no interest in another Chinese made cheap garbage razor. Sure, they may work. So what? I've got a bevy of vintage Gillette razors as well as some modern ones and I get some pretty darn fantastic shaves from them. At this point I would only want to add a modern razor that feels really good in my hand and will last me a lifetime. Chinese razors won't last a lifetime. So, if P&G did buy a company that produces a razor that they have made in China, then the company is going in a direction I have zero interest, hardware wise. I do like their creams. But there are lots of smaller artisans making some pretty fantastic soaps now so that market is pretty crowded. Art of Shaving (and my wife) may have been the impetus for me to get into classic wet shaving, but it appears AOS won't be getting much of MY business other than a tub of Sandalwood cream every 5 years or so.

I'm more than happy to buy "garbage" Chinese razors if they're as well done as the Razorock DE2/Teck II, SLOC, or PAA Ascension. I wouldn't pay full price for a new Merkur or Muhle.

I cannot remember just right now, but when the Bevel came out there was a thread on another forum and they linked to the Chinese manuf. who was selling it on Aliexpress or similar on the cheap. IMO Gillette bought the co. for their customer base list and potential because they are desperate to regain any lost market share nowadays.

I have nothing against Chinese razors and sometimes use a Bali 3 piece that shaves superbly. I am against being foolish and paying $49.95 for a razor that I can buy somewhere else for approx. $10.00. The start up clearly used glitzy marketing not unlike Dollar Shave Club with their crappy Dorco blades. Evidently it works as DSC was sold to Unilver for a billion dollars. Rolleyes
