Gillette Perma Sharp Super

Just a few years back these were all the rage and there were beaucoup threads on various forums touting these blades. Demand was high and they were not cheap as rarely back then could you find a 100 blades for under $25 and even then you had "import" them from a Third World vendor. Nowadays I rarely, if ever, see these blades mentioned. A search on this forum found only one post to sell some in the past. Now, they are under $12 per 100 on Amazon.

I have a bunch so haven't watched but wow! A lot cheaper now for this very good blade.

There is a seller on eBay selling these for $95 shipped or best offer for 1000.
Yes I ordered some although I didn’t need them and they are 100% legit. These are in my top 3 blades.

So, what is your preferred blade then?

Right now that would be a Astra Super Platinum. Perma Sharps are smooth, they just aren't sharp enough for my medium beard.

Is it possible that you are confusing the PermaSharp Super blades with the 7 O'Clock Permasharp Stainless Greens from India?

I have a coarse beard and find PermaSharp Super from Russia to be one of the sharpest blades available. The blade is sharp on the first shave, but becomes super sharp after the coating wears off. Although Feather blades are sharper on the 1st shave, the PermaSharp Supers are even sharper than Feather on the second shave. they are so sharp that I do not dare use them in my Muhle R41.

In contrast, I find Astra Superior Platinum blades to be somewhat dull with my beard. I have tried ASP blades from various sources and have yet to get a close, comfortable shave with the blade. At least they are sharp enough that I could use them if I had to do so. I much prefer the Astra Superior Stainless, which I find to be much sharper than the ASP.

Going through this thread, I'm curious what your other 2 of top 3 are?  These Perma Sharp have became 2 of my top 3 also. Feather , Perma Sharp and Gillette, Sharp Edge as of now.

I noticed these packages looking different. The blades are different because the ones that just says Perma Sharp are laser etched and difficult to see the writing unless you turn it in the light.

I also like Polsilver and Gillette Platinums.
