With all of the posts that I've shared of the OneBlade with a smiling GEM that OneBlade has reposted on different media, they have never once said anything to me about my blade usage voiding their warranty.

Great post Len.

You may have given this information, but I don't see it. Could you share the name or the brand (or model) of the tool used to clip the Gem blades? Is this something that could easily be found at a hardware store ?

Thank you

The model that I have seems to be a no name Korean brand, and I'm fairly certain you can buy one at a local hardware store. Here is the Amazon link for what I got, and you can perhaps match what you see to Lowes or Home Depot, etc.

Just ask the local clerks for where their "hand nibblers" or metal punchers are located, and match up what you see.

Are these GEM PTFE blades the same ones that are available at tedpella.com for $34.95 for 200?  It would be wonderful if blades for the OneBlade could be purchased at that low price, but I'm concerned when the description says "Cuts through epoxies nicely."  Are these suitable for using in the OneBlade?

Looks like the right blade to me, although mine came in a different style carton.

I've read that Ted Pella doesn't recommend PTFE's as a shaving blade, as Personna makes these out of their "Industrial Division". These blades seem to be made for industrial purposes these days, and Personna doesn't seem to be concerned about the very small subset of sales that go to the shaving market.

They work for this purpose (shaving), and many are very happy with them, but that doesn't seem to be what they're made for presently. You should be just fine with them though.

This is why I bought the ones from the British chaps!

I bought mine from Connaught, about $35 for 200 blades shipped.
I ordered the Amazon tool, works fine although the action on it is a little sticky. I modified a blade easily on the first try, slid it into the One Blade and got the satisfying click that it was locked in place. As for the shave, I really could not tell a difference between the smiling blade and the modified one. I will continue to modify the blades though as its so easy to do. Thanks again Len for figuring this out.

I'll modify a blade for use soon. Trying to see how many great shaves I get out of my current smiling GEM; 18 & counting.
