I didn't see any politics in that.

Discovery(?) had a show on a few days ago about Eric the Red (Leif Ericson) who went west and found Vinland. That's assumed to be mainland north America somewhere in Canada, or possibly as far south as Marthas Vineyard. But no one knows. But I heard that idea over half a century ago so it wasn't a new theory for me. I tend to accept it as fact. But Columbus still gets the credit for some odd reason. Probably has to do with documented proof that was first found and published.
