So, just shaved again with it, but this time I used the open combed M2 and, my face is hot sadly :/  Two nicks and a few weepers and my alum stung in places it normally doesn't Sad  I used the same Astra blade now on its second turn.  Could be a couple of issues; I don't think it's the plate, I shaved when I got home from work and I wear a collared shirt that irritates my throat since it rubs.  I normally wait until much later in the night to shave or the next morning when that fresh irritation has gone down, but we're going out tonight and I didn't have time for that.  Second, it could be the blade, it felt... tuggy, not as smooth as it did in the M1, so maybe the Astra won't work for me in the M2, but I have other blades I want to test anyway so time will tell.

Makes me a bit nervous though to try the R1 now, if the lowest aggressive plate with an open comb did that to my face, what will the more aggressive close comb do?  Like I said, my skin doesn't do well with aggressive razors, which is why my Ikon Slant doesn't see much love as I'd like it to.  I'll need to makes sure I shave in the morning when my skin is the best condition possible, showered and I'll try the Dreadnought pre-shave oil on it again, something I failed to do tonight, which is also a likely cause of my problems.

Also, to the person is the past who decided high collared shirts with a button that can choke a horse was a fashionable thing with men, please die again ^.^ <3 lol
The ikon slant work great with a lot of feedback, the thing you need to be aware of if I may recommend, use a very light touch especially since you have sensitive skin that would be true with all your razors but more so with the slant and more aggressive razors. you will see with the ikon dlant with light touch it will be very effective and easier on your skin

This is how I use OC. I only use OC on a two day growth, after that I only use SB or Slants for everyday shaving. For me, that's my best combination and I can comfortably shave everyday. I usually take the weekends off to give the face a well deserved rest, unless I'm going somewhere where I need to look clean shaven.

BBS? Haven't done that in years, two passes, enough for a good DFS! My wife approves and my face thanks me :-)

Okay, 3rd time the charm! Smile

Just got finished my 3rd shave with the ATT. I switched back to the M1 plate and dropped the Astra and switched to a Voskhod instead, and I also set the Atlas handle aside and used my iKon Bulldog handle instead, it's a bit longer and heavier. Such a difference! Big Grin The Vosk blade was nice and smooth and I had no irritation or blood anywhere afterwards, better than the Astra did(but I'm not giving up on that blade, it worked in other razors I have). I'm not BBS, but I never reach for that anyway, DFS is perfectly fine for me and that is what I achieved today Happy

rawfox1 Oh, yes, I learned quickly with the iKon slant not to press it at all, just let the weight of the head do the work lol

Shawn, Congrats on the ATT set!

I currently have the SB and OC sets. To me the OC sets cut the same as the SB but have a completely different face feel. I am about to sell my OC set for that reason. I prefer the SB plates. My daily driver is the M1 paired with either the Kronos or Atlas handles. I use the R1 at the beginning of the week to remove the weekend growth and the H1 if I ever have more growth. For my skin the Gillette Silver Blues and Personna Plats work best for me. I had the same problem with the Astra's tugging after the first use whether it was the M1 or M2.

I hope you continue to enjoy your ATT set.

Congrats on the ATT set! If the spirit moves you sometime, spring for the Kronos handle. It'll give you the extra oomph you want -- and, like the Atlas, it's drop-dead gorgeous.

Congrats! VERY happy S1 owner here. Other than my vintage Gillettes this is the only thing I use. My other razors are going up for sale. Well, my DE razors anyway, I still love my two SEs also.
