First time using a Thater

I just took delivery of my third Thater brush.  As you can see it is a 26mm two band Beehive.  I hope to use it today.

Congrats! I wish I had bought a Thater brush, my Simpson Duke 3 is such lather hug, it has good backbone and outstanding density but for some reason it holds the lather inside the bristles. My next brush would surely be a Thater! Thanks for the pics and great review!

I may anger some by this but, I am not trying to disrespect Simpsons. I have two of his brushes a Colonel X2L and a Chubby 2 both in best badger. I have had these brushes for I think 5 years. It is my opinion that the Colonel X2L is an excellent brush and a fine brush for those who are starting out and want to experience a badger brush. I hardly use the Chubby 2 any more for a couple reasons. When I purchased the brush it shed for over a year, that is no longer the case. However, the brush is far too dense for me and I have noticed this with the newer artisan soaps. It in my opinion it has poor flow through. The majority of my brushes are Wiborg, Shavemac and Thater. Even though I have all my brushes made in 26mm or 28mm two band they have excellent flow through. Thats my opinion.

I need to pick up another Thater. I had one early on, but was disappointed by it. Mostly because I didn't have enough experience with brushes I think. Now that I have had a ton of them to play with I think my experience would be different. I really like my Savile Row 3824, but I think I would like a 26 mm fan knot from Thater better. Maybe someday as I'm on a self imposed spending freeze to just use and enjoy the things I have now. Except for the Parthenon that I paid for a couple months ago and the GC from RR. Sometimes you need to just use what you have although some of the new offerings hardware wise are very tempting.

I am curious. I used my Tater 4125 black handle 26mm today and did three passes. I went back to bowl lathering some time ago. I generally mix the lather approximately 60 seconds. When I applied the lather this morning it took approximately 25 seconds each time. So, thats 75 seconds to apply the lather on my face and 60 seconds to make a bowl of lather. A total of 135 seconds or 2.25 minutes. However, I had to use the brush 4 times to accumulate the 2.25 minutes. The average is 33.75 seconds. How does your finger feel sore for such a minute period of time?

Wow that’s some analytics, are you a engineer by any chance?

They just felt cramped with how I hold the handle. Maybe with the 26mm the handle is a bit bigger than on the 22mm.

I am currently looking for a BRAND NEW Thater 26mm or 28mm, 2 band and fan shape in clear resin handle.
