I had a camelcamelcamel.com alert set for $140.00 for this razor. Was alerted for and bought it for $138.69 this morning. It has been even lower, but lately it has been hanging around $160.00, so I jumped on it!

I'll be interested in how it performs compared to my TECH, plus the fact that as my technique has improved, my more aggressive NEWs, SLIM and FatBoy have been working better and better for me. I guess I'm evolving as a wet shaver.

I have tried of the high priced stainless razors from Weber to above the tie and I have not found one that shaves better than the Feather AS-D2 with a sharp blade. A very tight angle is needed but it is easy to find. Sharp blade and Feather razor are the very best combination.

You might have gotten the nice "ink stand" holder for it. That raises the price by 40-50 bucks.

I've read that instead of the + or - 30º angle proper for most DE razors, the AS-D2 requires more like a 45º angle. Obviously, I'll be trying them all!

One of my favorites. It is my travel razor and it works great. You hit a nice deal Mr. B, I hope you enjoy it.

I have found out that it works great with Feather blades. As a matter of fact, this is the only razor I use Feather blades with.

Got you, Hobbyist and hrfdez. A tuck of Feather blades comes with it plus I have 50 in reserve.

Congrats beamon - I agree with the others. The ASD2 is a great razor, you just need to maintain the angle as mentioned. I do like it with Feather blades but then again I like most razors with Feathers as they are one of my favorites.

Look forward to your thoughts!

beamon thanks for posting this, the AS-D2 is one of my favourite razors. I picked one up on amazon.ca for CDN$178 last year and just love it. I wanted to buy one for my son but the price had gone up and it was always too much, this brings it within my comfort zone. It will be his next birthday present.

I tried a few different blades in this razor and found that the Feather razor, unsurprisingly has an affinity for the Feather blades. A perfect pairing IMHO.
Thanks,
Mark
