My standard shave procedure, with the AS-D2, is two passes (WTG & ATG) with touch ups. That yields a perceived BBS or near BBS shave virtually every time with virtually any blade I choose.

Perceived is the key word. Faceturbating the first couple hours can hardly tell any difference. It's only 12 hours later that the quantity of stubble regrowth can be felt and assessed by ongoing faceturbating. At shave time I can only assess the comfort of the shave. It requires either time or more sensitivity than I possess to judge the effectiveness of the shave.

Lol, twelve hours is good mileage IMO for a shave.  The endless infatuation with the so called BBS is funny to say the least.

Nobody cares!  Unless one is in a weird environment, I don't know anybody that comes around and touch my face every hour, other than my wife, and she certainly doesn't care about a whisker or two.

I enjoy the shave, afterwards, who cares!  Big Grin

That's a hoot, Paolo! But what can Hector possibly know of the ardor and depth of passion that exists in people of Italian leanings or ancestry in the low country? .........Just funnin' you, Hector.  Smile

I agree. This weird fascination with these acronyms. Really? Who care?

I'm not joking. I never even heard of DFS, BBS, Socially acceptable. It's like lingo invented that never existed.

Whatever happened to just "I got a close shave?"

I usually do the 3 passes and I don't even bother to check if I have achieved BBS, in case if I haven't I know for sure I'm most likely 98% BBS, so I don't care to double check all my face if there are few hairs here and there not fully cut.

As humans, we are designed to label and categorize everything. We do it with particles of dust, we do it with levels of shave closeness...

BBS is for me, though in all seriousness, I HAVE had random strangers ask to rub my head...ladies, of course, as I dont think most men would be bold enough, even if they so desired...

Regardless, its a term I use in conversation, but, it is no longer something I look to achieve. If it happens...AWESOME! If not, there is always tomorrow...
