If you are going to use a smartphone and are concerned about privacy learn how to use it. Android has for some time enabled users to control what permissions are granted to apps like Tapatalk. If you don't want an app to access location or other information TURN IT OFF.

everything is tracking us these days, it's all about marketing and such.  while you can limit your exposure to an extent, there's no way to fully cut it off unless you live out in some remote cabin without any type of communications, etc..

it is true though. just the mere fact of being online has the potential for someone or something to track your activities.

of course. I try to keep my stuff locked down as much as possible. that said, if someone is interested and eager enough to track you down online, I'm sure they can work it out. the govt? forget it...

There are readily available commercial products that make this really really difficult. If you have a long trail you don't go back and clean up (can be difficult) then yeah you're toast. Personally, not engaging in criminal behavior with few delusions of being a person of interest to J Edgar I take reasonable precaution but don't go nuts over this.

tunneling traffic through VPNs, using anonymous email addresses, etc., etc..all are possible, but makes life harder and less convenient for some. I guess it all depends on the level of protection/paranoia someone is willing to go for.

Interesting, when I started this thread it was my opinion that it may help someone but instead it turned into a circus. If I wanted a news flash I would have watched TV. The articles regarding tracking where you are and where you have been is ancient history. That was discovered years before the date of the articles someone posted. Are you aware that if you have a Google account they can track you whereabouts and where you have been. This is something that can track you key strokes and now Apple getting involved;

I wrote this because various Apps probably some used by members of this blog can track things other than your whereabouts. They can track your keystrokes get confidential information on you phone and in some cases actually see you phone's desktop. I also started this thread to give some of you a heads up regarding Taptalk which is on the list. Many of you use it to send replies from your phone.

But I will tell you this, if I find out that every cell phone in the Nation will explode at a certain time on a certain day I will not share this information in the form of a thread. I will keep it to myself and watch the news for a news flash.

If there is a specific reference to Tapatalk "monitoring keystrokes, getting confidential information on you phone and in some cases actually see you phone's desktop" I'd appreciate if you could point specifically to it as that would be extremely important to us Tapatalk users. I did not find it.

Taptalk is number 20 on the list. I do not use Taptalk so I did not read what was said about it. However, many people use it so I figured I wold give those of you a heads up to check it out. Also many of you could have different versions of the App. It appeared important enough to a company called TechCrunch who did the research and to Guardian even though they sell a product. I am merely trying to inform people.
