For a long time my shaving kit was like my wardrobe; a few nice items sufficient to cover any social need, but nowhere near this guy who wears a handkerchief once and sells it on EBAY and complains he ONLY owns 60 ties. I am now caretaker ( some of these works of art will outlast me) to
MORE than I ever imagined but LESS than the many razors, soaps, scents experienced, and I hope continue to. I also noticed certain combinations
have become the banana in my oatmeal and milk in black tea. My Vie Long badger beehive is my MWF brush and VP Rein Dachs with Dusy Kabinette rose followed by Harris Pink without variation. It's totally illogical. Anyone else doing this, even unaware as I for excuse?
Tying my black Italian faille four in hand with palantine and gold spot English handkerchief and struggling with gold English art deco chain cufflinks ( to match the sun, sterling after dark for the moon.)

Off the top of my head... (like), peas & carrots, potatoes & gravy, milk & honey... Oh! do you mean shaving related? - There's only one must-pair-together for me : my Feather AS-D1 and Feather Hi-Stainless blades. They are a coming together of perfection - or something like that, (I know this from experience). Smile An example of when the 'whole' is greater than the sum of its parts. All else in the 'arsenal' is free to make new friends.

For me, it's what is left of my Prairie Creations Douceur de Cando Rose Shaving Soap and Crabtree & Evelyn Nantucket Briar Eau de Toilette. Everything else in my den is mix or match, depending on my mood.

Brushes, razors, splashes, and soaps are all free to interact with each other as the mood strikes. Even my soap/splash sets are free intermingle and mix, as long as the scents don't clash badly...

I've noticed that I tend to gravitate toward my Plisson synthetic from the first run at l'occitane when using Cade rich in the tub.

I don't know why but any other brush seems ridiculous when using that cream.

I try to match my soaps and aftershaves as much as possible, e.g. Aramis JHL soap/aftershave, Floris No. 89, Floris JF, the various Penhaligon's, Ralph Lauren Safari, Acqua di Parma Colonia, C&E Sienna, Houbigant Fougère Royale, Roger & Gallet l'Homme, etc. But I don't pair my brushes with anything in particular, since each of them pretty much works with anything.

AoS Sandalwood followed with Floris Santal...every Sunday. So, for me, Santal Sunday.
