I've waited a while to review this soap because I wanted to get several shaves with it. I've now had at least a dozen shaves with Ethos Lavender shave soap & feel I have the soap dialed in.

A few observations before I get to the review. The packaging is first class, from the mailers to the labels to the jar & lid. I really like the jar, it's large enough to easily load from. Next, the quantity, 7 ounces! Not 4 ounces like most shave soaps, almost double that amount, 7 wonderful ounces of this nectar in each jar.

Scent: This is a clean, mild lavender scent, not overbearing. Pure is what I think of as I smell it. There aren't perfumes or powders coming into my nose, just a clean natural lavender scent. Extremely nice in my opinion.

Lather: Bloom the soap for a few minutes, then load a slightly damp brush for 30 seconds. Be ready to make some lather! As you make the lather add drops of water & watch it explode into a monster. This is very easy to lather & easy to dial in. Whether you like yogurt consistency or a thinner, slicker consistency, this soap can deliver. The lavender scent continues with the clean fresh scent as it goes on the face. A wonderfully relaxing sensory experience.

This soap provides great glide & slickness. My stubble gives no resistance to my razor as it glides over my face. I use short strokes & go over each area I shave multiple times in quick succession. Residual slickness is very important to me using this method. Ethos has great residual slickness & I'm able to do these multiple strokes with no dragging even though the lather had been removed with a previous stroke.

My 30 second loading provides enough lather for 3 passes & plenty left over. After my third pass, I like to re-lather my face & let the amazing skin food properties of the soap nourish my skin a while longer while I clean my gear. After rinsing, an application of Thayers, followed by an AS splash, & I'm feeling like a million bucks. The post shave feel of this soap is as amazing as the other areas I've already detailed. My face feels moisturized, not oily. It feels healthy & cared for, not just clean-shaven.

I've used Ethos Lavender with a variety of brushes (badger & synthetic), & with a variety of razors (aggressive & mild). I have not found a combination where this soap was not exemplary in every area. This is my new #1 soap.

I wish Ethos Grooming Essentials many years of success. I'm hooked, he's got me as a life-long customer.

Thanks dmshaver David for the detailed review and I’m glad your enjoying the Lavender Supreme Shave soap. Sounds like you’ve dialed it in to suit your shaving technique. Did you get the sample of the Skin Food splash I always put in every shave soap box?

It's not necessary to bloom the soap, I just prefer blooming it to make even more of the rich heavenly lather. I shaved today without blooming, & it remains my #1 soap, with or without blooming.

Yes Frank, I received the sample of Lavender Skin Food Splash. Thank you sir. It is also a superb product. The properties in your skin food nourish my skin & leave my old man face feeling supple & youthful. And my better half loves the way my face feels too! The scent is a perfect complement to the soap, leaving a mild lingering lavender scent to delight my nose long after my shave is over.

Had yet another amazing shave with Ethos. No matter the brush, how hastily lathered or skin condition prior to shaving (yesterday was sunburnt), each shave is dead balls on perfect!

Came home from work today to a surprise package from NY. Ethos Lavender soap and splash arrived safely (and quickly!), and I was able to enjoy an evening shave with it.

The scent is quite similar, to my nose, to the B&M Reserve Lavender scent, and inasmuch as the latter is one of my favorite scents ever, I am thrilled with the Ethos lavender scent. There’s something else in the skin food splash I cannot quite discern, but it blends well enough.

I soaked my badger and swirled maybe 13-15 times over the puck, face lathered and was rewarded with an abundance of slick, protective lather. Usually after the first pass, I find my badger eating much of the second pass soap. But the Ethos resisted the badger and I was able to get a solid second pass full of lather. After two passes with the BB and a Feather blade, I had achieved a solid, comfortable shave. Post-shave prior to applying the skin food was elite — very soft, supple skin. The skin food seemed to ‘lock in’ the softness and it just seemed to be absorbed instantly on my skin. Really great products. A real winner, in my opinion. Thanks, Frank!!

Thank you my friend for the detailed review and you have a good nose because the Lavender in the Shave soap and the Lavender are both from different growers in France and it was recommended by a good friend of mine who has been using both in her 100% organic skin care and body care products for a few years. She mentioned to me that in her bath soaps the Lavender worked great yet it didn’t work as well as the other one did in her skin splash and moisture cream. So when smelling them out of the bottle they are very similar but they are slightly different in the Shave soap & Skin Food splash but very compatible. They are my two favorite Lavenders I’ve ever smelled but cost a lot more to bring to the US than just buying the ones that all the US suppliers carry. They are not camphorious smelling as some Lavenders I’ve smelled. I’ll be coming out with more products with Lavender in them soon.

The Lavender sold out very quickly and I’m in the process of making another batch.

BTW I also love the Brush!

Best regards!

Frank

I continue to think of Ethos Lavender as my #1 soap. I know, surprise! I've used it at least 90% of the time since getting it two months ago. The other soaps I've used besides Ethos is Dragonsbeard, MdC, DG, GD, & Mikes. The 7 ounces in the tub is maybe 25% gone, so this soap lasts a long time. For those that think this is expensive, remember you're getting 7 oz, not 4 oz like many other brands. And now I can report that the soap doesn't go quickly, I'm going to be enjoying this tub for at least 150 - 200 shaves. And I believe in loading my brush heavy!
