That’s a good question and I’d say a lot depends on each individuals condition of the skin and how the shave went. I’d usually recommend starting with either the Skin Food Splash or the Non - Alcohol Skin Food Lotion. The Skin Food Splash with its Alcohol content to help with irritation, heal any little nicks and to kill any bacteria. The Non - Alcohol Skin Food Lotion has a good amount of Witch Hazel which is an astringent which also kills Bacteria and is good if you cut yourself and you have bleeding as it will clean the wound and help stop it by constricting blood vessels. It contains higher percentage of skin beneficial ingredients in it than the splash and moisturizers the skin more. Scent wise it’s always weaker than the splash. So like I said it depends on the shave but if you want to use both I’d recommend start with the Splash and let it dry just a little ( you still want your skin damp) and then use the Lotion next. If and I say if you wanted to add the serum I’d apply it as soon as the lotion is applied all over your face or at least make sure the skin is a little damp as that will help to evenly distribute serum. I have more than a few customers that do this but I usually recommend using the serum before bedtime or by itself anytime you feel your skin needs it. If applying it by itself I recommend taking a little bit of water ( distilled or purified is better or a good Floral water like chamomile or rose as examples ) and in the hands work a very light coating on the area you want to use the serum and follow up with a few drops of the Serum. Again to help distribute evenly and to help drive the beneficial ingredients into the skin and all the layer of the skin that the Revitalizing Serum addresses which is all of them as it is not just a surface dweller.
There are a lot of variables involved obviously as we are all different and have different needs skin wise. Some people naturally have very dry skin, some very oily as two opposite extremes and some have very sensitive skin with maybe the addition of skin conditions while many have what’s referred to as normal skin so if you’re not sure ask a professional if you can and then go from there.
It funny you bring this up as last night I had a Lengthy conversation with a well respected soap maker and we talked about the skin benefits of a Shaving Soap or Cream. We talked about how important a post shave product is for good skincare.
I use this Analogy, can you besides cleansing your hair with a shampoo condition your hair with a shampoo by adding hair and scalp beneficial ingredients in the shampoo. The answer is YES you can BUT can it condition your hair and scalp like a hair conditioner or treatment and the answer is NO. It’s that simple if you understand the Chemistry and jobs of each product.
On a side note I’m working on a post shave spray mist that will be coming out in the near future that will aid an assist along with contributing with post shave products and can also be used in a variety of other ways that I’ll explain when it’s ready for release.
