ETHOS Succès~~Simpson PL8~~Dovo 91
Day one with the Succès and I wasn't as Succèsful creating that glistening lather I got with yesterday's lavender soap. The soap, itself is softer than the lavender and loading directly from the jar isn't as easy. Tomorrow I will try scooping a bit out and smearing it in my Aesop SS bowl.
Over the years I have tried many different "scented" soaps, but whenever I would see someone shave with a pineapple soap, I would roll my eyes and think to myself, who would ever want to use THAT! Well, the answer is ME! I am floored by the scent of this product. If you are expecting to get a face full of Dole pineapple juice, you will be disappointed. This scent is MUCH more complex---but never crosses the line of "too many exotic scents". I would politely accuse Barrister and Mann of this as well as PAA. This is a well thought-out blend, which caresses the olfactory sense. Very pleasing, indeed. The slickness was almost as good as the lavender, but I am going to blame user error. While I have dialed in the lavender soap, I clearly need to tweak my lathering technique with this one.
Have a great day!
Hello my friend.
The Succes Soap is truly a softer soap than all the other soaps and the main reason for that is because of the Pineapple fruit powder ( good for the skin ) which is in it so I highly suggest using the scoop that comes with the soap to build your lather. So far it’s the softest soap in the ETHOS line up. I’ve always been a big advocate of scooping soap out of a jar of shave soap as it’s somewhat counter productive to laid from a jar simply because we spend time curing our soaps to eliminate moisture in the soap so putting it back in can cause issues especially if a soft soap. A hard soap like MDC or SV for example will not be as much of problem but if you talk to MDC as I have on a coupe of occasions they will tell you when you get your soap. Take the cap off and leave it off as they cure their soaps for 6 months to remove as much moisture as possible. A little tip if you insist on loading from a jar tip the jar completely upside down soap the soap is facing the sink and swirl your brush lightly especially on softer soaps whereas on hard soaps you can apply more pressure. By loading upside down less water/ moisture will get back into your soaps and of course let them dry out for at least 8 hrs plus after using. Also I don’t recommend blooming ETHOS soaps.
Anyway hope the info was helpful.
Great shaves!
