There was also a F base Nuage de Citron, Lost Souls, Fresco, Lavender Supreme and custom Citrus blend Creme. Well he ordered before I had my 50% non refundable deposit policy in place on custom orders and he messaged me yesterday and said money is tight and he had to cancel the order. I obviously wasn’t pleased he kept increasing his order and then decides to just cancel it not considering the time and money I have into the order.  This order has been a continuous add on order for over 6 month now and I’ve been holding some of the F Base soaps for him that sold out. So I was on the phone with a couple of my friends/customers yesterday and because they missed out on the Nuage de Citron, Lost Souls and Fresco those are gone and the Custom Citrus Shave Creme as well. The Lavender Supreme F base I just made so that can go back in stock but I still have the one Vanilla Safi and the Custom Mysore Sandalwood Creme left.

I know the Vanilla Safi will go very quickly if I put it up on the site but thought I’d post it here first if anyone wants one.

As far as the Mysore Sandalwood Shave Creme as you may suspect it was quite expensive. That particular 1959 Vintage Mysore was over $600 an oz!  I’m not looking to make money on this one but just to break even so I’ll let it go for what I’ve got into it as I’d like someone to be able to enjoy it. So if anyone is interested please message me by pm or email.

While on the subject, this is an example of why I put the 50% non refundable deposit/ non returnable policy in place, especially when dealing with expensive or in this case extremely expensive Aroma ingredients. It’s also not just about the cost of the ingredients but also the amount of time spent making both those Custom products.

So let me know and on the Mysore Sandalwood Creme which is a vegan one we can discuss the option of converting it into a Tallow Creme or even a soft soap.

If I have no interest I’ll just keep it myself as I love the smell! Hi

Great shaves!

That's crazy when people can't live up to their word on a custom order, especially of that size. I understand things come up/happen, but an ongoing order for 6 months should have been planned for and set funds aside. Glad it's all mostly covered Frank !

Thanks Dave

An yes it was more about him adding more items to his order and then just cancelling and leaving me hanging.

I think you should just charge the full price up front for custom orders, you shouldn't have to eat a loss because someone else's bad decisions, especially when the final order can take months to receive you're more likely to have someone buy something else and realize later they blew through their hobby budget.  As far as custom scents go I bet anyone who was really interested in getting one wouldn't be bothered by having to pay it all upfront.  I'm newer to this board but I can tell you have a good reputation here.  I doubt anyone ordering from you would struggle paying up front not trusting you would deliver on your promises so I don't think you have to worry about that either.

If I didn't already have a tub of safi I would take you up on this one.

Thank you sir and your the 2nd person that mentioned that I should get the full amount of the Custom order up front. I’m starting to think that’s best as then it’s all on me to deliver on their custom order.

Best regards!

How long does it normally take to receive the custom order?

Just wanted to bring a couple of things to your attention.

So I usually put hang tags on the Skin Food Splashes that say “ Shake me I’m natural “ and those pain in the butt tags are gone so we now have labels that go on anything that needs the reminder to shake the bottle. You’ll see it in the photo below.

Also to anyone who got the Tonka Bean Skin Food Splash or EDP you may be surprised to see a piece of a Tonka Bean at the bottom of the bottle. ( seen in the photo )  Just like the Mysore Sandalwood Chips that are at the bottom of those I added these pieces of a Tonka Bean as they will continue to infuse with the alcohol in the splash and EDP and continue to add Coumarin to the blend and therefore intensifying the scent with age. Because of the higher percentage of pure sugar cane perfumers alcohol found in the EDP this will make this infusion happen quicker and it’s easy to notice the increase in scent with time.

Hello my friend

Each order is so different as far as how long it takes. First thing is on custom orders I really like to talk to the customer about what they’d like. Then afterwards based on what ingredients I’ll need or how long it will take to get them I can usually determine the ETA of the order. If I have to do infusions then generally it takes longer.

I just got a request for a Bubble Gum Shave soap and Skin Food splash. That’s should take me less than a week. On another custom order where I’m infusing some things that I have to order from outside the US it will probably be at least a month or more. Like I said each one is so different

So bottom line some are quick and some can take a much longer time.

Hope that helps to explain.

Best regards

Frank

So it was brought to my attention that Sir Henerys  has done a great job of duplicating the AOS and Fine Sandalwood scent and I absolutely congratulate them on the accomplishment.

As some know I was working on the same thing and was going to make the Shave Soap and matching Skin Food Splash,  Lotion and the EDP.  In fact today I was working on the grid for the labels so we could order them.  I pushed this project back a bit so I could make the Tribute to ShaveMD Shave Soap and Skin Food Splash first and that’s happening on Monday. I was planning on making the Sandalo Artistico on Wednesday so by the time the Soap is ready the labels will be here.

So since .I have not ordered the labels and the products not made I’m thinking I may switch directions with the Aroma Blend and instead of doing a blend that showcases the Sandalwood but has notes of Eucalyptus, Myrrth, Patchouli, Fir Needle and a few others it’s not a straight Sandalwood.

My thoughts are go for a different Sandalwood Aroma blend that’s not going in  the AOS direction. Being a huge fan of Sandalwood and having a quite extensive collocation of many varieties of different Sandalwoods along with 3 very rare vintage Mysore I’m always playing with different blends so it would not be difficult to put together a new Aroma Blend, fill in the grid with the new Aroma Blend ingredients, Order the labels, make the products.

Your Thoughts on this?

Thank you!
Frank, I have emptied no less than 5 bottles of your Mysore Sandalwood afs. It has become a favorite [and 1 bottle of the edt is almost gone]. My selfish idea would be any shave soap that approaches this fragrance profile with your aftershave would be great. Your AOS sample from February's pass around was more of a classic S'Wood - The AOS /FINE utilized synthetic components - and is/was more 'cologne like'. And I think probably the synthetic component may be necessary to pay proper homage to that scent. Dan Law appropriately mentioned this use of synthetics would conflict & diverge with your business model.

So a natural Ethos S'Wood would be a win - win for the shave world.... Natural Ethos product, and matches that magic AFS juice I have been bathing in.

Yes, Another S'Wood soap in your base and a good fit with your AFS / EDT. My hope at least!

I messaged you regarding that order that went south.
