I waited for shower no. 2 with this soap before posting this.
Along with my Vanilla Safi shaving soap delivery, I discovered a top secret bar of Ethos GreenFresh bath soap.

Now I have GreenFresh shaving soap and skin food and that is amazing, but holy $#IT the bath soap is off the charts.

Other than being a perfect scent for the summer heat, the skin moisturizing is above and beyond.
I suspect a guy could shave with this stuff.
The GreenFresh scent is also very large…fills the whole room.  (Granted, my bathroom at the bachelor ranch isn’t huge…)
Not so gentle nudge to Mr Lipani for more of this bathroom enhancement.
(My apologies for the hyperbole…it’s that good.)

I tried a bar of the Greenfresh soap for the first time earlier this week. I originally bought it to get a relatively inexpensive sniff of the fragrance before deciding whether to invest in the shave soap and aftershave splash, etc. Well, the scent is superb, but what I wasn’t prepared for was just how great the soap performs.

For reference, I normally use Stirling soaps, and find them an exceptional value for the money with some great scent options. Coming from the very basic, slightly rough textured, blocky Stirling soaps, the Ethos soap out of the package looks much more refined, with its sophisticated grooves and premium smooth texture. The grooves disappear after a use or two, but the soap is super-slick on skin, just about the opposite of the Stirling soap that has little glide, especially early-on. Additionally the Ethos soap lathers extremely well and rinses off easily, quickly and cleanly. I guess the most important aspect is my skin also *feels* better after using the Ethos soap over the Stirling, proving that there is more going on beyond just the superior superficial presentation and feel.

In the end, $9 for a 5 ounce bar of soap (vs. about just under $5 for the same size Stirling bar) is a lot to pay, but while I doubt I can afford to completely switch to the Ethos soap exclusively, I now understand that the premium definitely results in a very luxurious overall experience that justifies the differential if one can afford it. My guess is I will now be buying equal amounts of both soap offerings, as each provides a compelling argument for purchase at the two’s very different price points.

Okay, it’s not my place to judge the financial decisions of others but ask yourself, is the extra enjoyment and performance worth the extra money? How long does a bar of soap last? Two weeks? So that’s two bars a month or an extra $8 to get the extra enjoyment/performance every day. Less than $100 a year. I think that’s a fair price to pay and if you’re on a budget, I’m sure you can find somewhere in there to squeeze out that extra $0.26 a day. We all have to bathe/shower just like shaving, so why not enjoy the process and start every day with a smile on your face.

And what is it about most bath soaps that makes them tacky so the first use or two it drags on your skin no matter how wet it is?  Is it an oxidized surface layer or are they coated with wax or something like that to prevent drying out prior to sale/use?
