Eros

I differentiate between slants, which for me are just the torqued variant like the Merkur 37c or the ATT S1 and S2, ad diagonals, such as the iKon 102 or the Mulcuto's that one's based upon, which are razors where the blade is placed diagonal on the handle. Turn a slant around and the edge of the blade is the same, turn a diagonal around and the edge of the blade is opposite. Main difference is that with a diagonal you don't get the added stiffnes to the blade that the torquing of the blade gets with a slant. I tend to like diagonals, provided they're light.

The Eros I show here is a diagonal. This model razor was sold under a variety of brandnames, one of the more well-known is Walbusch. The Eros was described to me as "The poor mans Walbusch" which in a way is funny because it was more expensive than my Walbusch diagonals :-) The inner box shows some evidence of cheapness, the outer box however hints at luxurious simplicity.

It is a bakelite razor, weighs in at some 28 grams which makes it light enough for me, and it is unmarked. Grip and manouvrability are fine, the only disadvantage is it fills up with lather rather fast, so this razor needs to be flushed a bit more often. The blade-exposure is quite big yet the blade does not vibrate: because there's only a rather narrow shaving-angle, you can't get the blade in a position where it will vibrate. This also makes it rather mild. Get the angle right and the sound of butering toast will tell you your beard is going. It will be gone for quite a while as well.

pretty neat! the base plate has the lips on it that are similar to the timeless razors.

They're also very similar to the Merkur Progress. Which makes sense because in all probability, these were manufactured by Merkur.
