Here is something I'm finding more and more important to me in whether I buy a soap or not.  In fact, it's kind of becoming a deal breaker.  Three years ago, a guy was happy to find a good Artesian soap wherever he could find it.  Today, the consumer can be picky and arguably, get as good a shave, with an amazing scent, from a plethora of soap makers out there.  This, I feel, has made this point more relevant; stop sending me your soap in SMALL tubs.  I'm done with you if you do.

Soap makers, we have had a huge influx of bigger and better brushes in the last three years and the last year in particular, has seen an huge advance in great, monster knot synthetics at less than 20 bucks.   We want to use these brushes in your tubs/tins/containers.  Not everyone bowl lathers.  Some of us, want to tub right in and go to the face.  Have you tried this in some of the tubs you send us???  It's a damn nightmare.  The market today, means I no longer need to choose brushes to match soaps based on the container size; plenty of soap makers have gone to larger tubs, containing the same amount of soap, at the same price point.  If you refuse to do the same, even if if I like your soap, I won't re-order your offerings. If you have a small tub that is based on size comparitive to the brush offerings available three years ago, you might want to look at the brushes wet shavers are using today. There are simply too many good soaps shipped in big tins for us face lathers out there, to deal with the mess of trying to ram a huge knot in your tiny container.  eliminate small tins.... For the love of God.....please.

I agree.

The argument, that you should just tranfer the soap into a new contianer, you have to buy as an extra just isn't good enough for me.

I bought 6 Savon des Volcans BonBerger soaps, and YES! these soaps are among the best ever soaps I have in my den - but the little flimsy plastic containers they come in is a just a disgrace and is shouting out to the buyer: 'Hey, we know how to make a great shaving soap, but we don't have a clue about shaving brushes, loading them with lather and actually using our own product in a wet shave'

I just gave my unused brand new Brutalt Bra shaving soap away because it came in a little grotesqu dinged up piece of sh_t alu container.
The soap is so soft, that you have to literally scrape it out with a spoon to tranfer it to another container and there is only 100 ml soap or less in it - and I paid £16 for it. This is a soap, that I will boycott, just like you say - it has no place in my den.

We praise al these artisan soap makers, but it's kind of funny, that you almost only see this basic embarrising rookie error with too small flimsy containers among the artisan soaps makers.

Very few of the facory produced old established soap brands sell their soap in flimsy small ridiculous lousy plastic junnk containers, very few if any.

My favoirite artisan soap makers all sell their soaps in larger sized containers:

Saponificio Varesio - nice sized tins and great wooden bowls
Barrister & Mann
Caties Bubbles
Cold River Soap Works
Tabula Rasa
Esbjerg
Martin de Candre
Le Pére Lucien - I avoid their 98 gram tins, their 200 gram stainess steel pots are excellent

It would probably make you furious. Tiny container and filled almost to the brim.

Awesome stuff though!

I buy my LPL's from Cyril directly (LPL owner) and ONLY order them in his fantastic 200 gram stainless steel pots.
Best pots on the market IMHO

PERFECT example of a GREAT soap that annoys me because of container size.  It's 11 bucks make it 12.50 if need be for a bigger container..... CF is 13 bucks for a soap I feel is right on par, I love them both for me, I'd rather spend 13 for a large tin than deal with the mess.... We are talking about 50 shaves or more with a tin of soap..... Let me use the brush I want without a mess for two bucks more.

A reasonable complaint. Here is Klar Seifen. The tin is useless.

They sell refills but NOT available in the US. The tins dent easily. But its no big deal. I just move it into any empty container. Even those tubberware things work fine.

My complaint is those stupid crocks. SELL THE REFILLS!!! Angry  Angry  Angry  I don't want your crock after crock after crock. What am I going to do with them all? Create clutter?

NO REFILL?  NO SALE.

CS sells for $160, but $33 for the refill

i Coloniali Mango sells for $36, but $18 for the refill

Boellis Panama sells for $115 but $48 for the refill

If you don't want to sell refills, then your soap better be the nectar of the gods, some ambrosia made from Unicorn hair Angry  or you lose a sale.

ASgreed, Klar was almost a deal breaker for me because of their tiny miserable tins - but what safed it for me and made me carry one using them is because their soaps are FANTASTIC and it's a hard puck, so unlike Brutalt Bra and other softer soap you can just click the soap out and into another container.

Having to scoop it out with a brush on a new soap I just paid fuyll price for like Brutalt Bra.......is a HUGE NO GO for me !

As a general rule, I like large containers with a wide mouth, so as the soap diminishes, it is still east to get to the soap. The one exception I have found is that of creams, and the B&M Latha line.

The Latha is so soft and creamy, that I can easily load my CH2 in the jar before lathering.

Honestly, the only soap containers that I absolutely hate are the smaller tins like WSP uses. Everything else I can work with, but if I had my druthers, I'd like bigger containers like Wholly Kaw, Soap Commander, Reef Point, etc.

I saw one person using a large brush in smaller container by twisting the brush to load instead of swirling around the container. He seemed to get a good load on the brush.

I can't say that I have personally thought about this subject much. Except when I am working with a sample. Then the damn spoon comes out....

Are the 4oz dr jons in bigger containters? My 2oz is the exact size of wsp if not slightly smaller and it's only 1/4 filled.

Stirling soap tubs are same size as CF.

You must not like haslinger or the Indian soap then lol

I find most size tubs just right for my 24 mm the bigger ones a bit too big for 24 really too big for 22mm. I like that there's different sizes for that reason. Most by brushes are 24mm. With wsp it's rotating in place. With cf and stirling I have to move it around mor to try not to wear a hole just in one spot lol.

Caties bubbles seems to be the sweet spot for 24/26

I don't really like and hardly use my 22mm

YES the Dr. Jons 4 OZ tubs are much MUCH larger than the two ounce and are my favorite sized tins to date.
