Early Father's day from my in-laws

My in-laws came into town this weekend to spend time with my wife and her grandmother for mothers day. My father in law stopped in and surprised me with an early father's day gift.

He stated there was an estate sale on his street and apparently the owner was a wet shaver, collector, or both. He saw he had a number of items but walked away. Went back the next day and found everything half off. He grabbed what he could for with what was in his pocket. Needless to say I was floored! I wish I old have been there. Stated there were scuttles, mugs, stropes, and a number of other items.

I do have some questions on the Christy razor. Has anyone used one? How does it shave? Are the NOS blades any good? And can newer blades be made to work in it?

I don't know anything about the Christy but the GEMs are another animal.
Blades are readily available and inexpensive.
I suggest Personna Stainless but there are other good ones.
Wait until you try a Gem, any one. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Try to keep the head flat against your face - no angle or very little.

Mickey Oberman Thank you! I Have a number of GEM'S and Ever-Readys already in my rotation. I'm partial to the GEM PTFE blades and have plenty in stock! The G bar is one I have yet to try so it's the first to be cleaned and sanitized. Got it all set for tomorrows SOTD!

Freddy, He really is a great guy. I couldn't ask for a better father in law. I've been tickled to death with the gift and can't wait to get them all cleaned, sanitized, and shave ready.

That's quite a haul! As for the Christy razor, I have heard of folks using an injector blade but don't know the details on that.

Awesome gifts! I once found a Christy razor in the wild, but didn't buy it. I wasn't sure about the blades either. Let us know if you ever try it out!
