You make a good point about use as a bath soap.  Tough to do that with creams but I suppose that you could.  I did pick up a bay rum  aftershave that I really don't care for, but it makes a fine after bash splash.

Just Say NO to Creams  Big Grin Kidding of course but I don't use them.

There is a place for cremes: for example, the drug rehab PIF guys are required to shave daily and under a tight time frame. Many of these guys have severely injured skin from rough lives. Cremes allow them to get lathered quickly for a 1 pass shave.

That stated, many of the guys migrate to soap as they learn to lather more quickly citing the added comfort

Glad it works for them, doesn't for me. Was only speaking for myself.

Dunno about that.  I am in the "have to"  camp.  If I get something and don't like it, what am I supposed to do?  Throw it out?  No!  Can't do that!  Give it away?  Hmmmm.......well then I feel guilty for passing along something that is trash.  It is a conundrum .

Also, forcing myself to finish it is a karmic punishment for again, doing a blind buy based on reviews alone.  When will I learn?  Buy samples.  If they don't have samples, don't buy it unless they have 15,000 five star reviews on Amazon.

It is all a rebellion to brick and mortar stores no longer carrying quality shaving supplies, not even the basics.  Somehow, all of that is my fault.

I never waste and throw things out. But just because I don't like something does not mean it it won't be perfect for someone else and so I do like to give things away. Many also just use soaps that they're not crazy about as a bath soap to go through it quicker and not ruin the joy of their shaves.
Shave soaps become shower soaps.
AFS become hands sanitizer in the car.

I have crushed my meh soaps in this manner

Agree with you and avoid cremes but there is a place for them. As stated, many of the guys migrate to soaps for the same reason once experienced lathering

Dan, we can keep going in circles if you feel the need. As I stated, I said they weren't for me. I NEVER said they had zero use. That should be the end of it. I'll leave you to talk about it with yourself now....

Normally I might agree with you, but . . .
I used to really like Proraso Red, and hated Proraso Green. I would say things like "Friends don't let friends use Proraso Green".
In an effort to use up the Green, I used 50% more than usual. After a few weeks, I decided "Gee, this stuff is pretty good after all". Then I bought a 400 ml bottle of the Proraso Green AS, and I like that too.
Just to bring things around full circle, I was glad to have finished off the Proraso Red a few weeks ago, because I was getting tired of the scent.

I go through spells when I really enjoy creams, mostly because they smell a little better than soaps. Then I think, Naw!, creams don't give me the protection I want. So I take a tub of cream and put it into a pump bottle and use it for washing my hands. Lovely stuff, that.
