Before you take my review as gospel... please understand; this is the first use of this knot. Therefore; it hasn’t been broken in, and will require many more uses before the full potential of the knot has been unlocked. Also, I am not an expert on DG knots. This is the third I’ve used, and the first I’ve owned. I have experience with a few DG knots, TDR Fanchurian v4 and v5, chubby knots, and synthetics... so I am far from an expert...

But here is what I think...

About 5 weeks ago I sent this handle to Scott to get knotted I a 26mm B9B. Since then, my tastes have changed a bit to the point where I no longer fancy dogwood handles. So by the time it arrived; my mind had already been made up... I was gonna try it once and then sell it! However; this quickly changed after first use! I’m thinking I’ll keep it Smile

One of the very first things you’ll notice when you unbox your knot for the first time is how much loft this knot really has. For god sakes... the knot is nearly as tall as the handle. And that was a bit off putting at first as I prefer knots to be seated deeply. To Scott’s credit, the website description clearly states that this knot will have the tallest loft of any since B2... and it is tall AF.

The website also describes the knot to have gel-tips. And it does. After first use!!! One of the biggest things that impressed me about this knot; was just how soft and gelly it was.. especially since it hadnt been broken in. On first use, it was as soft as my broken-in Fanchurians.

I was always very impressed with how easily it released lather. Out of all knots in my recollection... this one definitely did the best job of releasing lather. It was absolutely effortless.

The splay.... take a look at the photos! This type of splay for a 26mm knot is absurd. A bit to much for me to be honest. But I attribute that to the insane loft.

The backbone... for having the loft that it does, the backbone is perfect. Not to hard. Not to soft. I would say right in the middle. Exactly what I would want.

Density..... more dense then a chubby 2. But not too dense.....

Overall, it’s a fantastic well rounded knot. If you are a fan of large splay, this is the one for you. It’s soft, releases lather very well, has excellent back bone, and is very dense.

PS. I didn’t lose a single hair! During all 3 passes!

You should try and measure the hair loft if you have a caliper. I also have 26mm B9B and mine measures 49.75mm. A lovely hair grade though. Congrats on your new brush!

Hey Max! Unfortunately I don't at home; but I should have a few at work I’ll check out tomorrow.

And thank you!

Yeah please, let us know. I knew when ordering the B9B it was mentioned that the hair loft would be set higher so that's why I went with a 26mm as opposed to my regular 28mm as to reduce the splay. The 26mm I got is just perfect in terms of backbone/splay.
