I have been googled to death looking at ideas for making a retro / vintage bottle with label for my aftershave that sits on the counter. I tried searching here on this site, but no results popped up...

Any good labels for the DIYer? or Do you kinda have to go aggro and buy in bulk?

You can use any bottle.

Some guys I've seen use hot sauce bottles because they already have a flow restrictor but it's removable to refill.

I thought about going with a Soy sauce bottle, but I worried about my aftershave evaporating over time. The spouts are nice, but no way to really close it sealed.

I just refill small bottles with pump sprayers on them. Easy as pie. I can get a count of how many sprays of juice and not spill it all over. No lid to drop or mess around with either.

I never bothered with labels though. It's a great idea. I think you will need a waterproof one.

I've heard of people making their own Bay Rum splash and filtering them into other containers. I just think we can take a good looking vintage label and make it our own. ie..Jeff's juice etc, etc... Would look nice instead of "brand x" plastic bottle mixed in with all the other junk on the counter-top.

I decanted my Clubman into an old Cholula hot sauce bottle. Looks much better than the plastic one it comes in and it's glass. I've heard it preserves the scent better but I don't know if that's true or not.

Man...I am trying to imagine the scent if you failed to wash the Cholula bottle completely clean...Not pleasant, in my estimation... Undecided

Did it add a couple of scovilles to the post shave burn?

I've been looking on line for bottles / caps / flow restrictors - its a lot harder to find than you'd think and I don't want to buy in the quantities that they want to sell. I started out looking last summer because I found a cool recipe for a summer aftershave - now it'll be out for next summer. Without flow restrictors.

I imagine that wouldn't be very pleasant BadDad. I ran it through the dishwasher multiple times to make sure there was no detectable hot sauce odor (or extra Scoville units, Marko Big Grin).

I noticed the razo rock AS has that "old time" feel for a bottle. Screw cap and all. Maybe Re purpose the bottles like that? I like the Cholula idea. Except the bottles we get around here are the small ones. Not alot of after shave in those bottles...
