Don't judge me by my description. I have daughters and have seen to many girly cartoons lol.

There is nothing wrong with that description; it's perfect. Happy2

Does anyone know if the "Plissoft" fibers that many brands use are exactly (emphasis on exactly) the same fibers from the same supplier as Plisson? I'm curious. I love my new Plisson and have a special admiration for the quality of the product.

I have a plisson and I would say no, but I'm not sure how I would describe the other, "Plisson like," knots either though, but they are different. A plisson will easily bottom out on your face with basically no pressure. Most of the ones coming out now have more backbone and splay differently. Most of them are bigger knot size than the original plisson though.

Thanks for the info EFDan! For me its the bristle quality that impresses me so much, so I'm not sure I would be satisfied with the Plissoft. A lack of backbone is fine since the efficiency is this brush is excellent. Ultimately the important thing for me is that they are different - I've heard some people say that they are exactly the same, and if I had bought one and found it different I would have been very disappointed.

According to the website, Razorock claims that they are using Plisson knots without explicitly giving away their name.

I highly doubt they are using the exact knots from Plisson, but it would be the same fiber. Of the ones I have tried such as the Stirling Kong, there is no difference in the fiber type. I had a Plisson and may buy another soon, but for me the problem with Plisson is that they only offer one size knot. For those looking for more backbone or a different size knot they can do so now with all the options out there. I don't know why so many people have a hard time believing manufacturers in China can make the same type of knot. It is after all synthetic fibers, which means as long as they know which material to use they can make the same type of knot. Also, if I had to guess I would bet Plisson has their brushes made in China but I don't know that for sure.

I received a few Plisson type samples recently from a large shaving brush manufacturer in China. Below are pictures of the 3 knots and 2 handles they sent me to see how I liked them. They assured me that these knots have the exact same fiber as the famous Plisson knot and they knew exactly what I was talking about when I asked. They customize all aspects of the knots to include weight, shape, loft and knot, then record the values so that every knot is the same.

The pictures include 22mm, 24mm, and 30mm Plisson type fiber knots, and the other is a Stirling Kong 26mm for comparison. I sold my Plisson in favor of the Stirling or else I would have posted pics with it next to the knots. Note that in these pics the knots are not glued into the handles. Only one handle fits one of my knots. They weren't willing to produce a batch of 24mm handles in the design I requested just for a sample, so they sent 2 handles they made extra in a order they were working on.

Recently acquired a Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Badger. Best of the synthetics I own. Was never satisfied with ubersoft knots, as they splay much and provide virtually no backbone, so I gravitated toward the synthetic Muhle. Not bad, but the Simpson knot is the one to beat. Similar to a Muhle synthetic, but adds more gravitas. Retains loads of water and heat. Cannot recommend it enough.

I have fallen in love with the Razorock Plissoft Monster, a 26 mm knot that seems to lather very nicely and the big handle is easy to grip, I would like to see it made with different handle colours as options, but for the price can't be too picky.

That brush is a steal at $10.99. I haven't used it but it looks identical to the Stirling Kong, my favorite brush.
