I understand why people want larger knots when there isn't good splay. Splay makes the brush feel larger than it measures. The Plisson synth is the king of splay & I splay it out when I face lather. If I had a larger knotted Plisson I think I would be lathering all the walls around me as well. Big Grin

Plisson and my Omega S brush!! The Omega S series brushes are a wonderful value for under $10! I got mine at Shoebox Shave.

I've tried or own most of the brushes mentioned here and for me nothing can beat the EJ STF XL. I like larger brushes and have found that although you can get some others to splay a bit they're always just a little too springy to hold on. The EJ XL splays nicely and holds a lot of soap.

what do you gents thinks of the satin tip brush? I think they're pretty cool looking and I love persian jar handles: http://www.luxurybarber.com/the-grim-bla...-brush-720

For Synthetic Brushes, My current line up is:

Whipped Dog 30mm in a Blue Handle (Lather Monster)
Beauty Strokes H.I.S. 1794 28mm in a Clear Handle (beautiful)
Plisson for L'occitane 23mm (excellent)
Omega Hi-Brussh 24mm Transparent Resin Handle
Omega Hi-Brussh 25mm White Handle
Fine Accoutrement Angel Hair 20mm Red and White Handle (Plisson like)
Kent Infinity Silvertex 22mm Cream Handle

My absolute favorite is the Whipped Dog 30mm, this is a monster brush and generates tremendous amount of lather and is almost as good as my Simpsons Chubby 2 Best Badger.

Update: I've since purchased a Plissoft from IB. It's the only brush I use anymore, except when I'm traveling. The Plisson stays in the travel kit. And I forgot to mention that I sold the Mühle a long time ago because I couldn't stand the springiness of it.
