I got a tatara nodachi razor and want to use my other handles with the head. The Rockwell handle doesn't screw on the thread.

Can I not use other handles with the tatara thread??

Tibam makes some handles that fit the Tatara

The Weber bulldog handle works if you have one. I only used the Nodachi during the passaround, but I don’t think the ATT Atlas or UFO Colibri handles work. I didn’t try handles from any of my other razors on it.

Thanks.
So, does this mean other handles are not compatible?
Is there a unique thread on the tatara?

The Tatara handles have proprietary-shaped collars that couple with their heads.

I believe it is more of an issue with the baseplate, where the Tatara handle needs to screw into the baseplate. Because of that, not all handles fit it.

It is similar to the Blackbird, if you are familiar with that one. I don't believe it is an issue with the threading.

Shavemd or DanLaw or others may be able to provide a more technical answer and shed light on other handles, in addition to certain Tibam handles, that may fit it.

The Tatara has a narrow collar to fit inside the baseplate to lock the blade tighter. The only way to have a replacement is to have someone make you a special handle with that narrow collar. Other handles may tighten the baseplate to the top cap but not how Tatara designed it.

The base plate is recessed for the handle to fit into it, which I can easily fix with a nylon washer...

My issue is that other handles are not screwing on to the thread after about half way up the threaded stem.

You have an older design top cap is my perspective. Please snap a photo of the top cap focusing on the threaded stud

Only the Nodachi cap is designed to accept additional handles (putting the baseplate design to one side). The threading on the Masamune cap is a different length.
