I don’t know if it makes much of a difference but I’ll be out of pocket some of next week.
I assume that we’re all to follow your lead andrewjs18 and use clean utensils to scoop a sample out rather than lathering from the container. Should we just take our samples and then send the container on?

scooping a sample out is probably the most sanitary method. I'll leave it to you guys though.

I was one of first guys on the list and wanted to share my opinion. This was my first experience with this artisan. I am very picky about my software choices. I mostly use Grooming Dept, Nuavia, and a few selections from Barrister and Mann. I really enjoyed Gates of the Arctic, in particular, I liked the scent. I would really love to try the matching aftershave at some point in the future. I was somewhat surprised that this soap didn't have a strong menthol blast. I was expecting that given it's name but it wasn't there. That said, it was a very nice shave and I will seek out this artisan for future releases.
Some feedback from my usage of Talbot Gates of the Arctic:
Scent: This soap has a wonderful fresh, clean and overall pleasing scent. Most of my summer scents are citrus forward, mentholated or both. But GotA was as pleasing of a warm weather scent as you could ask for.
Performance: I was very lucky to have tried two other Talbot soaps and the quality and quantity of lather that is generated in such little effort is incredible. The cushion and slickness of the soap is matched by very few artisans. Talbot Shaving soaps will be right among the top performing soaps in any den.
Closing thought: Talbot checks all the boxes. I really hope that the pre sell model is viable, because more shavers will get a chance to appreciate the fine Talbot Shaving soaps!
