I just use a Potassium Alum block. Works great. Or it was a block until I dropped it. Now the pieces are in a brown plastic bottle full of water and I squirt some out and splash it on. If you've seen my products you've seen the bottle.

Crystal Deodorant does not contain ammonium alum, just potassium alum.  At least that is what I have.

I just picked up a stick of Crystal and it is made of ammonium alum - I should have checked the ingredient. So the warning here is if you are buying Crystal brand deodorant check the label to see what its made of because its made of both ammonium alum or potassium alum.

That's interesting, Marko. Although I don't need any right now, I shall have to check several stores to see what's up with that. Thanks for the warning.

I'm going back to the store I bought this one later today or tomorrow to check - there were several versions of the same thing under the same brand name so I'll see if there's any difference in ingredient. I'll update you with my findings. Its mildly annoying that they're not consistent ingredient wise.

No, it's not "mildly annoying", it's very annoying. Angry

Hi Freddy its taken some time but I thought I should report back and close the loop on the mysterious varying ingredient Crystal Deodorant stick.  I went back to the store that I bought the Crystal Deodorant stick that listed Ammonium alum as its sole ingredient.  They had several different versions of the alum deodorant, one for men, one for women and a couple in liquid form in a pump spray bottle.  All listed Ammonium Alum as their ingredient.  I then went to Amazon and bought a deodorant crystal by Lafes for a decent price:

The Lafes stone is listed as being made of Potassium Alum, it comes in a faux velvet travel bag and a little dish (thoughtful as where do you put it otherwise?) The block is a 2x2x2 inch cube for $6.53 so its a good deal (much cheaper than Osma) and I've been using it for a week or so now and it really works well. I'm virtually stench free!!  Pictures below:

That is too crazy, Mark. Either the product has changed since I purchased my last one or I was just lucky. While what you purchased from Amazon is a good buy, I like it in the twist up tube as there is less chance of breaking it and it is easier to hold and apply; at least it is for me.

Thanks for the update.

And to add to the confusion... this from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Deodorant-...B00028QF9U

If you enlarge the two small pictures on the upper and lower right they clearly state Potassium Alum but if you scroll down to Ingredients, under Important Information, it just as clearly states Ammonium Alum.  Huh?!  Huh

I like crystal deodorants too. No way I'm going back to the conventional antiperspirant/deodorants. Countless shirts have been ruined by those stuff.

Freddy , I'll grant you that the roll-up container is way more convenient but what the heck is up with Crystal? I assume that the manufacturer figures alum is alum and that the buyer neither knows nor cares if its potassium alum or ammonium alum. But listing different ingredients on the same page is odd. Careless too.

With the block I can see a risk of dropping it especially as it gets smaller although the rubber band trick I've seen suggested where you wrap a thick rubber band around the block to aid in grip would be useful.
