That time of the year - Harvest Fairs. The Deerfield Fair is the oldest and biggest in NH.
We went on Saturday. It was a cold rainy day. The fair was surprisingly crowded given the weather conditions.

There are equipment displays. My favorite.

Craft Barns where people enter there items such as flowers or pies or canned goods.

There are animal barns.
These are the pulling oxen. They can be huge like these.

Or small like these two month old trainees.

I had never seen this before. Highland cattle as pullers.

This was a 4 week old dairy calf. Cute.

Outside the sheep/goat barn was this proud contestant and her sheep named Rose.

A cute pair of goats.

This was a local equipment dealer - Chappell Tractors. I liked his "sign".

I don't know why these were there. Maybe a monster truck rally later?

Lastly I just liked this guys slogan.

All in all we had a great day. Picked up some locally made items like a beautiful cutting board, honey, infused oils and an artisan shave soap (it was terrible this morning) and just had a great day.

Thanks for the tour, Phil.  Love the Highland cattle.  The joke is: the reason they have horns is so one can tell the front from the back. Wink

Freddy,
That made me laugh out loud. I bet as a retired teacher you have tons of those jokes.

Actually, I heard it in Scotland, many years ago.

Brings back a lot of memories, I grew up in New England. Looking at those pics I can almost feel the chill in the air.
