L&L Grooming Declaration Brushworks Washington , number 5, arrived today.

It was nicely packed with festive tissue paper, and had no smell.  The handle shape and material feel great- it's a matte finish that reminds me of antique/aged ivory.

Here shown fresh out of the box, loaded with soap, lathered, rinsed, shaken and lightly wiped on a towel. Palm lathering was excellent. Even though the loft seems a bit "lofty" the bristles had plenty of backbone, felt ver soft (almost a suction feeling) and had zero, zero scritch. Did someone say hooked, gel tips?
Looking forward to inaugural shave.

Thoughts on performance to follow, but just the washing and palm lather show great potential.

Absolutely stunning knot. Man. I was looking the past few days for one of these for sale on the site, must have missed it.

Very nice looking. May I ask how much the brush was? Want to know how it compares to other high end brushes from a price perspective.

Thanks everyone.

Here's a link to information, prices etc.:   https://www.declarationbrushworks.com/pr...ngton-24mm

I used it for last night's shave. The brush is extremely dense, more than any other knot that I have (I think) and so I wasn't prepared for it's characteristics.  It's very soft but in no way floppy and has a beautiful shape now that it's bloomed Using I Coloniali it turned out that I didn't load enough so my third pass was a bit thin. I test lathered with a softer soap and had mounds of lather- see above. I'm sure it will take more lathers to open up. I think I'll use it for a few consecutive days and see what happens. This morning it was still slightly damp and felt almost sticky. Interesting.

The handle felt great in hand. Very nice work from Scott at L & L Grooming.

Lovely brush, Chris. Happy2

Is that black marker on the bottom of the handle? That looks quite odd, to me. Can you rub it off or is it permanent?

It's the maker's mark in gold pen. It's a bit odd but doesn't bother me. I think it's been clear coated so it won't rub off...
