Absolutely!

No matter how good your lather, improper shaving technique such as shaving with too much pressure or the wrong shave angle can overcome the protective barrier of the lather and cause irritation, or even blood letting.

The armor of a tank can provide a high level of protection, but with sufficient pressure, it can be defeated.

Nice thread subject.
I've felt before like I should be happy and get the best shaves with a soap that's the very slickest I can get.
I do appreciate there are guys out here that get great shaves with the absolute slickest soaps, not to worry about that cushion. I'm a bit jealous of those shavers.
I have found with the more efficient and aggressive razors a cushion is important for me and how I shave.
I do wonder if there is a line place where using a soap less cushion might get a closer shave with the less efficient razors.
Again it's a nice topic and  whatever works is what a person should do,.

Keto, I think you hit on what works for me & why. I see Mild razors, & I like low profile slick lathers. Cushion probably keeps me from getting close shaves as I am usually not happy with the results.

Yeah I think that's possible from the way it seems to work for me

This is where I fall too. I like it to feel like my blade is sliding across a sheet of ice.
